Beschreibung

This bike, originally sold in Sweden in 1928, has a history that becomes clearer from 1995 onwards, likely coinciding with its renovation. Since then, it has predominantly been in the hands of private collectors. However, what sets this motorcycle apart is its frequent use and meticulous maintenance, ensuring it remains in top operational condition.

The introduction of the Model 200 marked a pivotal moment in Husqvarna's history, representing a significant modernization of their motorcycle range. This model, equipped with a 550cc engine, introduced a series of aesthetic and functional enhancements. These upgrades included a redesigned fuel tank and chrome-plated improvements to various parts such as the handlebar, spokes, exhaust pipe, silencer, and magneto drive cover. This evolution signified Husqvarna's commitment to integrating the latest advancements in motorcycle design and engineering, showcasing their dedication to innovation and quality.

The Husqvarna Model 200 is a rare jewel in the crown of Husqvarna's rich motorcycle heritage, with only approx 150 units ever produced, making it an exceedingly rare find. This renovated Model 200 showcases the pinnacle of Husqvarna's engineering capabilities of its time. It is powered by a sturdy 550 cc side valve V-twin engine, demonstrating the robust design preferences of the era. The motorcycle also features a three-speed gearbox, which was a significant achievement as it was manufactured in-house, highlighting Husqvarna's commitment to self-reliance and innovation in engineering.

Further enhancing its appeal, the Model 200 is equipped with an Amal carburetor, a choice that underscores the brand's dedication to using high-quality components for optimal performance. The Bosch electric lighting system, including the original Bosch TS150 headlamp, not only adds to its historical authenticity but also represents the technological advancements of the time. This combination of features makes the Husqvarna Model 200 not just a motorcycle, but a piece of motorcycling history, embodying the technological progress and engineering excellence of its era.

Fakten zum Modell

Like many other motorcycle manufacturers (BSA, Royal Enfield, FN, etc.), the Swedish manufacturer Husqvarna was originally known for producing weapons in the late 19th century, before they started producing bicycles, as well as chainsaws, sewing machines, etc. While they mounted engines on their bicycles in 1903, it was not until 1918 that Husqvarna built its own motorcycle engines to secure a Swedish army contract. They built a new engine plant in 1920, with their own designed 550 cc side valve 50-degree V-twin engine. The factory built single-cylinder and V-twins with capacities up to 1000cc and started a racing team for road and off-road events, and is known for Grand Prix victories in the mid-1930s, with Stanley Woods and Ernie Nott behind the handlebars of the Folke Mannerstedt-designed 350cc and 500cc OHV V-twin racers from 1931. The company ceased building four-stroke motorcycles in 1937 and instead focused on a lightweight two-stroke machine, which ultimately became the post-war World Champion motocross racer.
