"A fun and unusual model in a nice condition, which in its time was considered a slightly finer sedan, positioned a bit above the folkhem icon Volvo 140."

Description

It was sold to its first owner in May 1972, and he used it extensively and took equally good care of it. The car was rust-proofed every year, and the service plan was meticulously followed as per the book. Unfortunately, this documentation was lost during a later estate clearance of the first owner. However, an original workshop manual, a repair operation manual and a spare parts catalogue is included. In 1991, the car was passed on to his daughter, whose husband renovated it in the mid-1990s. Their son took over the car in 2002 and drove it very sparingly until he passed away after a short illness. Since then, in 2013, his wife has been the owner, but the car has not been driven for 15 years. Now, it has been started and is ready for inspection once one of the carburetors has been cleaned.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

It has been started and received new spark plug cables, battery, fuel filter, and a cleaning of the fuel pump. It needs an overhaul/cleaning of one of the carburetors for the engine to run properly. When it does, it's a smooth straight-six with nice power. The transmission feels clear, and the brakes, including the parking brake, work well. During the renovation, the engine was opened, checked, and renovated with new bearings, seals, and gaskets.

  • Interior condition:

Fresh interior and seats, good but slightly faded carpets, nice headliner and door panels. The storage shelf in front of the driver is a bit loose. The wood inlays/decor are intact on both the dashboard and door panels. The seat rails on the passenger seat need cleaning, and the steering wheel needs to be unscrewed and mounted straight.

  • Exterior condition:

Attractive blue paint in the original color, repainted in the mid-1990s. Unfortunately, some malicious individual has deliberately scratched the right rear fender and rear door. Some of this might possibly be polished out. Older tires with good tread. Accessory mirrors from the eighties; the originals are chromed or in stainless steel.

  • General condition:

An uncommon and somewhat dignified sporty English sedan with a nice engine, in a representative and presentable condition.

Facts about the model

The Mk 2 was more than just a facelift; it received a completely different, longer front and rear, totaling 25 cm longer. This brought a more distinctive appearance that is appreciated by enthusiasts today. The six-cylinder engine lent a pleasant attitude to the car, and it was later also available with a larger 2.5-liter engine version with electronic fuel injection.
