Facts about the model

The XJ 6 model was launched at the London Motor Show in September 1968 and immediately became a success. With this model, Jaguar made a significant impact and moved ahead in the market. Several "outdated models" were phased out, and instead, a modern, attractive, and affordable vehicle stood in their place. The order books quickly filled up, and once again, the epitomes of pace, space, and grace were synonymous with Jaguar. There were two engine options available, a 2.8L and a 4.2L, with the latter becoming the more popular choice. The following year, a more luxurious version known as the Daimler Sovereign was introduced. If the cars were fitted with vinyl roofs, they were also given the Vanden Plas name. In 1972, a 12-cylinder engine version, the XJ12, was introduced, along with an extended L-version. The following year, the Daimler version also received these attributes. In 1973, the smaller 2.8L engine was phased out, eventually replaced by a 3.4L engine a couple of years later.
