Daimler Double Six V12 — 1990

In the realm of cars from that era, no other vehicle exemplified the idea of swift, opulent travel as effectively as a Daimler, all while maintaining a truly understated British sensibility. This well-kept car is Swedish sold and has remarkably low mileage, with only 91,973 kilometers on the odometer. It has recently undergone a thorough inspection and has received substantial investments in servicing and maintenance.

Description

The owner purchased the car back in 2010 and primarily used it as a summer car for leisurely trips and family events. Judging from the inspection history, it appears the car has been driven for no more than 11,000 kilometers over the past decade. It has consistently received maintenance and service from the specialized Jaguar expert, Lars. Unfortunately, the owner passed away in the middle of 2022, and the car was inherited by the family. Due to family commitments, no one has had the opportunity to enjoy the car, which is why it is now being offered for sale. For the prospective buyer, the car comes with the added benefit of having recently undergone extensive service work and maintenance, with over 60,000kr invested. Additionally, it has been fully inspected and is valid for another two years, ensuring many enjoyable years of motoring ahead. One point to note during a test drive is a knocking noise that occurs when you accelerate forcefully with the automatic gearbox. After consulting with Jaguar specialist Lars, it has been determined that this noise is due to a gearbox mount issue, which can be rectified for an estimated cost of 4,000-7,000 kr. This should be addressed if you engage in hard acceleration, but under normal driving conditions, it is unlikely to be noticeable.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The V12 engine starts smoothly, offering a comfortable drive with easy gear shifting and strong brakes. The engine bay is clean, with the only issue being a needed gearbox mount replacement. It features appealing alloy wheels and good tires. Instrumentation and electrics all work well, though there's a minor concern with one rear window, possibly a fuse issue. The AC isn't blowing cold, likely requiring a recharge and small leak in the exhaust.

  • Interior condition:

The interior is in superb condition, featuring a classic British Racing Green color with wonderful beige leather upholstery. The seats show no signs of damage, and the rear seats appear barely used. The door cards, headliner, and dashboard are all in excellent shape, and the leather scent adds to the charm. Minor issues include slight varnish cracking on the wooden panels and a small section of loose leather on the passenger door panel, as shown in the pictures.

  • Exterior condition:

The car's bodywork is in excellent condition, displaying straight lines, well-fitted panel gaps, and impressive chrome detailing. There are no damages to the bumpers, and a thorough rust inspection revealed only a small 5 cm blister under the rear window seals as the sole issue. The underbody is clean, tidy, and free from any damages or welding work, with a solid underseal. The paintwork is in excellent condition, with just a few minor and barely noticeable stone chips. A quick polish would bring it close to a flawless 100% appearance.

  • General condition:

This car truly commands the road and earns respect from fellow motorists, giving you a high-profile presence as the kilometers effortlessly roll by. It offers great value for money and would be a fantastic choice for a Daimler enthusiast. While the service book is missing, the car does come with a good history and receipts, and the manual is included.
