Description

The S-Class coupe has always been somewhat of a dream car for Mercedes enthusiasts. This 500 model arrived in Sweden as early as 1988. It has had a few owners who all must have been very fond of their car. This is evident from the condition. The current owner searched long for a 500 SEC in just this exellent condition. He tells that he traveled around half of Sweden looking at cars for sale before this one appeared. The current mileage is 121 300 km. There is lots of documents included that support the mileage, including all inspection reports from the Swedish Vehicle Inspection, service book, and a document from the German car company. A selection of reports is included among the pictures. In summary, we believe it is likely that the mileage is accurate. The current owner is selling the car due to house renovation. Original jack, toolkit, and spare wheel are included.

Owner's comment

I dreamed of owning a very nice 500 SEC with all the equipment, including leather seats. I called on countless ads, dragged relatives and friends around half the country in search of the right car. When I found this car, everything matched, except the interior. I had to compromise on that requirement because the car was the absolute nicest of all I had looked at. I felt that the condition was more important than leather seats. The car has been well invested in over the past few years. Among other things, a new exhaust system, new discs and pads, a new alternator, new original Bosch injectors, original Bosch vacuum regulator. Since we have had an addition to the family and bought a house that needs renovation, I now have to let the car go.

Facts about the model

The new S-Class with the internal designation W126 was introduced in the fall of 1979. The coupe version, C126, was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1981.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class was perhaps almost too modern when it was introduced. When Vi Bilägare tested it in 1981, it was noted that it "breaks with the modern recipe that prescribes a low waistline and large windows." The emphasis was now on low aerodynamic drag and lower fuel consumption than its predecessors. Technically, the car was a further development of the W116. On the V8 versions, the engine blocks were also cast in aluminum, unlike the W116, which had cast iron blocks. Anti-lock brakes could be obtained from the beginning, and an airbag was available from the fall of 1981. The model was produced until 1991.
