"Fully loaded and fantastic to drive, with panoramic roof, sharp handling, and effortless turbo power. A rising Saab youngtimer, increasingly hard to find — and still a rare sight even among enthusiasts."

Description

The Saab 9-4X remains one of the rarest models ever produced by Saab, with approximately 803 cars built in total. Developed during Saab’s final years under General Motors (GM) ownership, the 9-4X was Saab’s entry into the growing premium crossover SUV segment, aimed at rivals such as the Volvo XC60, BMW X3, and Audi Q5. Built on GM’s Theta Premium platform, shared with the Cadillac SRX, the model made its world debut at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, with production commencing in April 2011.

This car was sold new in the USA (Colorado) in 2011, with approximately 80% of Saab 9-4X production delivered to the U.S. market.

According to available history, the car sustained accident damage in 2015 and was subsequently declared with a salvage title — a common situation for Saab models at the time due to limited parts availability following the company’s bankruptcy. The car was sold via IAA auction and exported to Lithuania in 2016, where it was repaired, with recorded repair costs of approximately €8,500.

It was later imported to Sweden and registered in December 2016.

Since arriving in Sweden, the car has had two private owners. The first owner kept it for just under five years, followed by the current owner — a Saab enthusiast — who has owned it for a similar period and mainly used the car during the summer months.

The mileage was approximately 35,000 km upon arrival in Sweden, around 71,000 km when acquired by the current owner in 2021, and today reads 104,290 km.

The car has been regularly serviced and maintained by a Saab specialist in Kinna, with invoices totalling over 16,000 SEK for work carried out in 2025 alone. It also comes complete with all inspection reports from its time in Sweden.

In 2017, the car was treated with Dinitrol rust protection at a cost of approximately 7,500 SEK.

Having now spent nearly 10 years in Sweden, the car continues to perform strongly. It drives very well and remains in good overall condition, with all electronics functioning as they should and no warning lights present — a clear indication that the car has been properly repaired and well maintained.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car starts instantly with a smooth-running engine and no abnormal noises. It drives very well, with a smooth automatic gearbox featuring manual paddle shift, stable road handling, solid brakes, and strong turbo performance when required. The engine bay is clean and well-presented, with no signs of leaks and no warning lights on the dashboard. The car sits on alloy wheels with only minor scuffs, fitted with good tyres all round. Inspection is valid until 2026-12-31, and approximately 16,000 SEK has been invested in recent maintenance, including link arm bushes, brake master cylinder, left front wheel bearing, rear LED light strip, and general servicing (see pictures).

  • Interior condition

Super clean and well-presented interior, featuring black leather seats with grey inserts, all in very good condition. There are no damages—only light wear consistent with careful use. Headlining, carpets, and door cards are all in a nice condition, while the dashboard and instrument cluster are fully functional with no warning lights or pixel issues. All electrics operate as they should, including seats, roof, mirrors, windows, radio/navigation, boot release, and air conditioning. No HUD "Heads up display" fitted.

  • Exterior condition

Very presentable car with clean, straight bodywork—no dents or signs of rust, supported by a tidy and solid underbody. Paintwork is bright and well-kept with no major issues, only a few minor stone chips. There is a small paint chip (approx. 3 cm) on the lower section of the left rear passenger door frame and a few small micro blister (see pictures). All plastic trims and bumpers are in good condition, with just a small crack noted on the lower front valance.

  • General condition

In total around 205 Saab 9-4X Aero 2.8T models were produced, making this a very rare car that is steadily increasing in value. Taking its history into account, this example offers a great opportunity to acquire a desirable model at a more accessible price point—ready to be driven and enjoyed straight away.
