"Starts easily and feels great to drive. Everything functions as it should. However, we haven't tested the air conditioning."

Description

The car has had the same owner in the USA for 22 years, and the current Swedish owner purchased it in 2021, close to the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. The car is completely untouched and in unusually good condition in terms of body, engine, and gearbox. In Sweden, it received a service and passed the registration inspection before being used as a hobby car.

The previous owner stated that the engine was overhauled in 2015, and it received Edelbrock valve covers, a new carburetor, and an Edelbrock air cleaner, among other upgrades.

The two-tone paint in light blue metallic and white is original. The car has been repainted once, and some edges of the clear coat have faded or come off (see pictures). It's not very noticeable and is common when a car has been in a dry climate with strong sunlight. However, the car has been stored in a parking garage when not in use, so it has fared unusually well.

The odometer reads 71,200 miles, which corresponds to 120 000 km. But the odometer may have gone around once, meaning the car has covered 240 000 km. However, it feels tight in steering and bushings, without any play, so there is uncertainty about this.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car is enjoyable to drive. The engine has plenty of power, with no unusual noises or vibrations. The transmission shifts smoothly, and the brakes work well. It passed the vehicle inspection last summer without any remarks or issues.

  • Interior condition

The car has a complete and well-preserved original interior. The seats have been reupholstered to match the original design.

  • Exterior condition

The body is well-maintained and shows no signs of rust, looking like new underneath. It has an older repaint in the original color, which has held up very well over time. However, there is some sun-fading on the clear coat along the top edges of the front fenders. The passenger door seems to have been repaired in the past, and there is a noticeable difference in the shade of blue paint (see pictures).

  • General condition

It's a fun car to drive, and its user-friendly condition provides a great overall impression. This classic model is highly practical and versatile, yet comfortable to drive. The long-bed configuration is especially beneficial, adding to its practicality and utility.

Facts about the model

The GMC Sierra and its sister model, the Chevrolet Silverado, are true American classics that were introduced in 1975 and are still being built and remain highly popular. GMC is produced in General Motors' facilities specialized for heavy-duty work vehicles, making them more robust and often equipped with additional features, reinforced chassis, and brakes. Chevrolet's corresponding models are assembled in General Motors' facilities for passenger cars. The engines and transmissions are the same for both brands.

This particular car is from the first generation introduced in 1975 and was produced until 1979. In 1980, it received a facelift with a new grille, lights, and other updates, but it retained the classic appearance. Nowadays, it serves as a delightful hobby car that can be used for light-duty work during the summer months, hauling heavy loads, towing trailers, and more. If it's to be used year-round, it's recommended to apply a rust protection treatment as the undercarriage is completely untreated.
