"A nostalgic estate wagon for those of us who grew up in the 1960s. It feels like yesterday sitting in the rearmost seat, facing backwards. The unique side-facing third-row seating arrangement adds plenty of charm. Presented in fine condition, with a very good overall impression. A Saab that truly turns heads on Sweden’s summer roads."

Description

A Saab that was sold new in October 1966. The history does not reveal where it was first delivered, but the car eventually ended up in the municipality of Östhammar, where it is said to have been passed around among several family members. The current owner purchased the car in May 2022, at which point it was already largely in its present condition.

It is not known when the repaint was carried out, but the work has held up well to this day. The car has not been inspected by us on a lift, but based on our assessment it appears to be in good condition. Photographs have been taken from ground level to provide an impression of the underbody.

The low odometer reading cannot be guaranteed, as it is possible that the odometer has rolled over once (or even twice).

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Technically, the car feels sound in all respects. It is likely that many components have been replaced over the years, as the vehicle presents itself as well maintained. However, there are no receipts or records detailing what work has been carried out. The tyres are in good condition, mounted on wheels that show only minor signs of surface rust.

  • Interior condition

The interior is in very fine condition overall. The cabin presents exceptionally well, with the only notable flaw being a small area of wear on the driver's seat backrest.

  • Exterior condition

The paintwork presents very well, with a deep and glossy finish. A few minor paint runs can be observed, but they are located in areas where we do not feel they detract significantly from the overall appearance. The glass, lights, trim, and bumpers are all in good driver-quality condition.

  • General condition

A handsome estate wagon finished in an attractive colour combination. A true classic that is unlikely ever to go out of style, with enduring appeal and lasting value. An opportunity to invest in a piece of Swedish automotive history.

Facts about the model

The Saab 95 was Saab’s first estate car, introduced in 1959. Early models were powered by a three-cylinder two-stroke engine, but in 1967 the model received the well-known and dependable Ford V4 engine producing 65 horsepower, a change that contributed greatly to its popularity.

The Saab 95 became renowned for its durability, versatility, and distinctive rear-facing third-row seat, which allowed the car to be approved for up to seven occupants. Approximately 110,000 examples were produced between 1959 and 1978, with more than 50,000 sold in Sweden alone.

Production came to an end in 1978, after the final years of assembly had been moved from Trollhättan to Arlöv, just outside Malmö.
