"Pure driving pleasure paired with a deep, rich exhaust note—that best sums up this Austin-Healey. It is presented in road-ready condition and is ready to be enjoyed immediately. Only a few minor details remain for the next owner to address, should they wish to take it a step further."

Description

This well-cared-for Austin-Healey arrived in Sweden in the summer of 2005. It was imported by a specialist company and immediately sold to its current owner (now part of an estate). Unfortunately, the car's earlier history prior to its arrival in Sweden is unknown.

Over the past 20 years, the owner has carried out a series of sympathetic improvements and maintenance work, leaving the car in road-ready condition after a short period of storage. A routine recommissioning service is nevertheless recommended before regular use.

The car was last inspected for roadworthiness in 2017 and has covered only around 40 miles since then. While the vehicle has not been inspected on a lift by us, the visible areas of the underbody appear to be in good condition. The recorded mileage cannot be verified.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

All major mechanical systems are in working order, with a few minor exceptions. The driver's door lock mechanism would benefit from replacement or possibly just lubrication. The windshield wipers operate inconsistently and may require attention. The heater control panel is cracked (please refer to the photos). The tires have good tread depth but are older and should be assessed due to their age.

  • Interior condition

The interior is generally in very good condition, with the exception of the heater control panel mentioned previously. The door sill trims are in varying condition, with some requiring replacement. The carpets are intact but stained. The leather upholstery is well preserved and presents nicely. The luggage compartment is particularly dirty and would benefit from a thorough professional detailing.

  • Exterior condition

The body shows only a few minor scratches and stone chips. There is some paint flaking along the edge of the hood, most likely caused by a previous misalignment that allowed it to rub against the adjacent fender. The chrome trim, lighting, and glass are all in excellent condition. A professional machine polish would further enhance what is already a very attractive overall presentation.

  • General condition

Overall, this is a very well-presented Austin-Healey. With a thorough detailing, a light recommissioning service, and a few minor finishing touches, it will be in excellent, user-friendly condition and ready to be enjoyed on the road.

Facts about the model

History – Austin-Healey 3000

The Austin-Healey 3000 was produced between 1959 and 1967 and remains one of the most iconic British sports cars ever built. Developed as the successor to the Austin-Healey 100-6, it combined elegant styling with strong performance, thanks to its smooth and powerful six-cylinder engine.

During its production run, the model evolved through three generations—Mk I, Mk II, and Mk III. The final Mk III version offered increased power, improved refinement, and a higher level of comfort while retaining the engaging driving dynamics that had made the model famous.

Renowned for its excellent handling, impressive top speed, and success in international motorsport, the Austin-Healey 3000 quickly earned a reputation as one of Britain's finest open sports cars. Today, it remains a highly sought-after collector's classic, admired for its timeless design, charismatic performance, and unmistakable exhaust note.
