"The forward-thinking superbike of its era, making a powerful impression—and not merely in the literal sense of its weight."

Description

The motorcycle was delivered new in the United States and arrived in Sweden several years ago as a restoration project. It was subsequently restored to a nut-and-bolt standard by a well-known authority within the CB750 community, Boije Fredin of Hässleholm, and was registered for road use in 2021.

The current owner purchased the bike in 2022 and has ridden just over 860 kilometres since then. Today, a hip operation has unfortunately brought his motorcycling days to an end.

The most recent—and final—approved inspection was carried out as part of the registration inspection process in 2021.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine is effectively in as-new condition, and for that reason the motorcycle is fitted with an odometer that was reset to zero following the restoration. Having covered just 860 kilometres (approximately 530 miles) since then, it can scarcely be considered fully run in.

  • Exterior condition

Excellent finish throughout, both in the overall presentation and in the finer details. Exactly what one would expect from a motorcycle restored to as-new condition with a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

  • General condition

Equally at home as a piece of Japanese engineering art on display indoors as it is being enjoyed on leisurely rides and at enthusiast gatherings. Or, perhaps, both.

Facts about the model

Honda and its CB750 Four revolutionized the motorcycle world in 1969, catching many manufacturers—particularly the British marques—completely off guard as the CB750 established itself as the world’s first modern superbike. Its combination of advanced engineering, reliability, and performance transformed the entire industry.

Honda’s design introduced several technical innovations as standard equipment, fundamentally reshaping the motorcycle market overnight. A transverse-mounted 736cc inline four-cylinder engine with a single overhead camshaft produced 67 horsepower and delivered a top speed of more than 200 km/h—figures that were truly sensational at the time. The CB750 was also the world’s first mass-produced motorcycle to feature a hydraulic front disc brake, providing stopping power to match its impressive performance.

Its four carburettors and four chromed exhaust silencers became defining visual trademarks, giving rise to the model’s famous “Four” designation. The CB750 represented a major technological leap forward, offering a combination of performance, comfort, and reliability previously reserved for far more expensive and less accessible machines.

The model became a tremendous global sales success, particularly in the United States and Europe, and is widely regarded as one of the most important motorcycles ever built. Its influence extended far beyond Honda itself, setting a new benchmark that competitors would spend years trying to match.
