"This vehicle has been standing idle for some time and was last inspected in 2018. It should be regarded as a restoration project or a source of spare parts.

The car was not movable at the time of inspection and photography, which has resulted in a somewhat limited presentation."

Description

This vehicle was first registered for road use on 6 April 1998 and is reported to have had six owners. The most recent owner, a Saab enthusiast, acquired the car in September 2005. At the time, it served as the daily driver while other enthusiast vehicles occupied the garage.

The car was last inspected in November 2018, when the odometer showed 176,080 km. The current reading is 177,040 km, indicating that the vehicle has remained largely stationary in its present location for more than seven years.

It is now being offered strictly as a restoration project or for parts. Included with the car is a folder containing the owner's manual and assorted documentation, as well as one set of keys.

The vehicle must be collected by transporter or trailer.

A model that, until quite recently, was a common sight on our roads but has suddenly become far less visible in everyday traffic. The Saab 900 celebrates its 42nd anniversary this year and has firmly earned its place as a classic.

This particular example, from the model’s final year of production, is now 28 years old. When introduced, the Saab 900 helped elevate the brand’s position in the market, moving it closer to the premium segment through its distinctive design, engineering, and comfort.

Today, this car represents a modern classic that requires extensive inspection, refurbishment, and attention before it can return to the road. That is where it belongs—back in service, continuing the legacy of one of Sweden’s most iconic automobiles.

Facts about the model

The Saab 9000 was unveiled at Kolmården on 24 May 1984 and was produced from 1984 (for the 1985 model year) until 1998. The model was developed in collaboration with the Fiat Group and shared its platform with three sister models: the Fiat Croma, Alfa Romeo 164, and Lancia Thema.

The design of the Saab 9000 is credited to Giorgetto Giugiaro and Björn Envall. The model was offered in both four-door sedan and five-door hatchback body styles. Over the years, a wide variety of versions were produced, ranging from practical family cars to models with more luxurious and sporting ambitions.

One such version was the Talladega edition, named after the famous American racetrack where Saab set a number of world speed records for production cars.

For the 1992 model year, the Saab 9000 received a significant update with the introduction of the 9000 CS. This five-door hatchback featured a lower front end with four headlamps, a redesigned rear section with substantial structural reinforcements, and further improvements to safety.

The final Saab 9000 was built on 6 May 1998 and was driven directly to the Saab Museum, where it remains an important part of the marque’s history.
