Description
This particular car was imported to Sweden in January 2015 and came into the current owner’s possession in May of the same year. Minor improvements have been carried out during the current owner’s time with the car. The vehicle is in good driver-condition, and mechanically it feels very tight, both in the engine and transmission. The Hydra-Matic gearbox shifts very smoothly and nicely.
A large amount of documentation from the USA accompanies the car. The car’s most recent inspection was carried out in the summer of 2023.

Condition
-
Mechanical condition
As previously mentioned, the engine starts easily, and the V8 purrs quietly like a dormant volcano. The transmission, brakes, drivetrain and cruise control all function flawlessly. New shock absorbers have been fitted, providing excellent road contact through the fine Kelly tires.
The factory-installed air conditioning is a bit tired, as the compressor clutch has reached the end of its life. All technical details are in good condition with two exceptions: the clock has stopped working, and the power window switches should be replaced as they are worn out. The car is delivered with two keys for the fully functioning locks. -
Interior condition
Nice and intact seats. A professional deep cleaning of the seat surfaces would significantly enhance the overall impression. The carpets are in driver-condition, with a crack on the passenger side. There is also a crack in the dashboard.
-
Exterior condition
Very nice shine in both the paint and chrome. Only a few scratches and stone chips can be detected. Unfortunately, it appears that the right door has at some point suffered some form of damage. The paintwork is poor, with bubbles and cracking, and the panel fit needs adjustment. It would be well worth investing a few thousand kronor to address this, as the car is otherwise in such fine condition.
-
General condition
A truly good example of this unusual American automobile. There are a few minor things that could be addressed as part of an ongoing rolling restoration, should one desire to do so. In my assessment, this is a value-stable car.

Facts about the model
In 1977, the Skybird appeared in the catalog, packed with unique features. The most noticeable was the two-tone paint scheme. The upper section was finished in a blue shade called Lombard Blue (code 21), a color available for the Pontiac Astre and the Skybird, but for no other Firebird model. The lower section was painted in blue (code 58). The RPO code corresponding to this package is W60. The model remained in the catalog until mid-1978.
The overall Lombard Blue theme included the grilles, headlight surrounds, and wheels. A blue accent stripe ran across the hood, rocker panels, around the windows, and past the headlights. The “Skybird” emblems were also finished in blue. Inside, everything was blue as well, including the blue-anodized Trans Am dashboard.
The available engines were the same as those offered in the Esprit models, including the Buick 3.8L V6, Pontiac 301 and 350 V8s, and the Oldsmobile 350 V8. Later, the Chevrolet 305 engine was also introduced.
