Description
Around 15 years ago, the car received a substantial performance upgrade from an Alfa Romeo chief mechanic. The cylinder heads were ported, valve angles adjusted, and the camshafts reworked for greater duration and lift. It’s been mapped with both the original chip and an additional chip in the ECU. The rev limiter is reportedly set at 8,700 rpm. The exhaust system features a Zender rear section and a Supersprint midsection. The modifications provide an estimated 60 extra horsepower.
For stopping power, it’s equipped with Brembo’s top-tier carbon/steel brakes (very expensive). The wheels are from Novitec. These details and recollections come directly from the mechanic who carried out the work.
A helpful note for inspection: if you let the engine idle at 90°C, the idle speed rises slightly, which makes it run smoother and helps it pass the inspection.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
Starts easily and runs strong and lively in both engine and drivetrain. During a short test drive, everything appeared to function well, and the driving experience encourages spirited acceleration and dynamic driving. Steering, handling, clutch, gearbox, and brakes all perform as they should. The car has not been inspected on a lift, but from what could be seen of the vital components, everything appeared to be in good condition.
-
Interior condition
Nice and well-preserved original interior with comfortable seats. Door panels, headliner, and carpet are all in good condition. The steering wheel, controls, dashboard, and gauges are also in excellent shape. Everything appears to be working properly, including the stereo.
-
Exterior condition
Shiny and attractive, seemingly with its original paintwork. There is a slight variation in paint tone, which is typical for Alfa Romeo of this era — metal and plastic panels tend to age with a subtle difference in shade over time. There is a stone chip on the windshield that has developed into a small crack. Otherwise, the glass, trim, emblems, and lighting components are all in good condition, showing only normal wear for the car’s age and mileage. The wheels are in great shape, and the tires are in good condition.
-
General condition
The small and spirited sports car Alfa Romeo GTV was a true driver’s delight — pure joy behind the wheel. The front-wheel-drive model introduced in 1994 was no exception. This example is in fine, well-preserved condition with low mileage and bold performance upgrades, promising potential classic status and a bright future as an enthusiast’s car.

Facts about the model
The GTV model had appeared in earlier generations, such as the Alfetta GTV, but for the 1995 model year, a new wedge-shaped, front-wheel-drive version designed by Pininfarina was introduced. The open-top version was called the Spider. It was available with a range of engines, from 1.8-liter fours to 3.2-liter V6s. In Sweden, the most common were the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Twin Spark engines and the 3.0-liter V6. These were lively cars with excellent handling, thanks in part to a newly developed multi-link rear suspension system.
A smaller 2.0-liter V6 with a Garrett turbocharger was also developed, primarily for the Italian market, where tax laws favored engines up to 2.0 liters. This version was offered between 1995 and 2001. The GTV was built by Alfa Romeo in Milan during its early years, and from 2000 onwards, production was handled by Pininfarina in Turin.
Minor updates were introduced continuously, but in May 1998 the model received a more significant facelift — known as Phase 2 — featuring an upgraded interior. Later, in 2003, the Phase 3 version arrived with a redesigned grille, exterior updates, and new engine options. Production officially ended in 2004, although cars continued to be sold as 2006 model-year vehicles.
In total, an estimated 42,937 units of the Alfa Romeo GTV were produced between 1994 and 2004.
