"Not started or test ridden and will require a general review and start-up service. The engine has good compression, the gearbox selects gears correctly and the tank looks good. The motorcycle was last started over 15 years ago."

Description

This 1920s Husqvarna was manufactured in December 1929 and delivered ten months later to the Husqvarna General Depot in Stockholm.

Its early history is unknown, but it should be possible to trace it through the Swedish National Archives. At some point the motorcycle disappeared from the vehicle register, before reappearing in 1986 when it was pre-registered under the registration number MCK 176.

This means that a registration inspection is required before the motorcycle can be returned to the road. According to the Swedish Transport Agency, no new verification of origin is required.

From 2000, the motorcycle formed part of one of Sweden’s largest private vehicle museums in Olofström. In 2016, it passed into the ownership of its current owner.

It has not been ridden during the past ten years, although the engine turns over freely without any problems. The motorcycle remains in its original specification and is sold together with several newly manufactured, uninstalled parts:footboards with rubber mats, and rubber handlebar grips.

All of these new parts were manufactured by Erland Lagerqvist, whose company Rubber Mek was well known within Husqvarna enthusiast circles.

The Husqvarna 30 SV is powered by a 250 cc JAP side-valve engine producing 7.5 hp. The model was manufactured between 1929 and 1934, with a total production of 1,903 examples.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

A general review of the engine shows everything appears to be in place, with nothing obvious missing. The engine turns over with good compression, the gearbox shifts correctly, and the inside of the petrol tank looks good. It will require a start-up service and general review before use. One lever is loose, and the new rubber hand grips still require fitting.

  • Interior condition

Seats remain in good condition overall, with some minor damage and wear to the edges of the rider’s seat.

  • Exterior condition

Very presentable overall, having undergone an older renovation that has held up well. There are no notable rust or damage issues, just a few marks and scratches consistent with age. A set of original-style decals is also included. There are some small rust blisters on the wheel rims and around the spokes, together with a few scratches on the exhaust box. Nothing major.

  • General condition

An iconic piece of Swedish motorcycle history, now approaching 100 years old. In the hands of the right enthusiast, it should make a rewarding project to bring back to life and onto the road again.
