"A fun and unusual Skoda model. It was equipped with a rear-mounted engine, which was considered completely outdated already in the 1980s. The car has been restored by a Skoda enthusiast in Hoting to a very good condition. Fully ready to drive, except that it needs to go in for a Swedish vehicle inspection. The inspection expired on August 31, 2026. Once it has been inspected and approved, it will be on a 24-month inspection interval, in accordance with current classic car regulations. We are not aware of anything requiring attention before the inspection."

Description

The car has had a total of 6 owners since new, including car dealers and the car museum in Hoting. The car was disassembled and restored by a previous owner, with the restoration completed in 2024. In 2025, the car was purchased by Ivars Bilmuseum in Hoting. Parts of the collection are now being replaced, so the car is being sold at auction.

This is a distance auction. The photographs were taken by an independent photographer, and the information about the vehicle and its technical condition has been provided by the owner. BWA has therefore not inspected the car on site at the seller's location.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Equipped with a 1.3-liter four-cylinder inline engine producing 61 hp, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. In typical period Skoda fashion, the engine is rear-mounted. The engine was completely overhauled during the restoration, which was completed in 2024.

  • Interior condition

Beautiful interior that was reconditioned during the restoration.

  • Exterior condition

The car was disassembled during the restoration and the body was placed on a rotisserie. Everything that did not meet the standard was replaced or restored. The car was then fully repainted inside and out. New tires on aluminum wheels were fitted in 2023. There is one spot of surface rust and a small paint chip on the left door. That was essentially the only flaw found regarding the paintwork.

  • General condition

A real rare bird on Swedish roads. In excellent restored condition.

Facts about the model

The Škoda Rapid was a sports coupe designed and built by Škoda in Czechoslovakia between 1984 and 1990. The Rapid was a coupe version of the four-door Škoda 130 and an update of the earlier Škoda Garde coupe. The car had a 1.3-liter pushrod engine producing 62 hp. The engine was mounted behind the rear axle. The car was considered outdated in its day, but was, together with the four-door version, the only car apart from the Porsche 911 sold in Sweden with a rear-mounted engine. The engine's output was enough for a top speed of around 155 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 15 seconds. The last rear-engined Škoda model left the factory the same year as VW's takeover, 1990. That year, three examples were registered in Sweden, but these were most likely old stock cars. The last "real" year in Sweden can be said to be 1987, when 98 examples were registered.
