Not driven for some years and therefore requires some work to get running and back on our roads again. It ran fine when last driven. The good condition and relatively simple mechanics should mean a reasonably straightforward job to get it back on the road.

Fakten zum Modell
W.R. Morris was inspired by Henry Ford and unlike most other British manufacturers, he purchased component parts for his cars from external suppliers and was thereby able to keep prices down. Morris soon became Britain's largest car manufacturer. During the 1920s he acquired Wolseley and in competition with the Austin Seven developed and introduced the Minor model. Success eluded it but the model laid the foundation for the MG Midget, which became a success. By 1935, however, W.R. Morris had divested his interests and Morris, MG and Wolseley became part of the Nuffield group. In 1952 the company merged with former main competitor Austin to form the British Motor Corporation. Relatively quickly the distinctions between the different marques were erased and Morris became copies of Austin models. When the British Leyland Motor Corporation was formed in 1968, the former BMC became a division within the new structure. Morris was eventually used only for the rear-wheel drive models. From 1971 only the Morris Marina remained. It was discontinued in 1980 and replaced by the Morris Ital until 1984, after which the Morris story was over.
Back to 1948, when Alec Issigonis had since the Second World War been working on developing a new small car. He tested front-wheel drive, boxer engine and other innovations that would partly appear in the Mini over a decade later. However, it became a new and successful era with a small people's car manufactured from 1948 to 1971. Nevertheless it featured conventional rear-wheel drive and a 4-cylinder inline engine with a 4-speed gearbox. The model did offer a range of innovations such as a self-supporting body, rack-and-pinion steering and independent front suspension with torsion bar springing. Initially the model had an old-fashioned side-valve engine and a split windscreen as well as low-mounted headlamps, which were relocated to the wings from 1951. For the 1953 model year came Series II with a new overhead-valve engine of 803cc. In autumn 1956 Morris introduced the Minor 1000. A new engine and new rear axle ratio now made the car truly lively and with improved roadholding it became considerably better to drive. The appearance was modernised with a full windscreen and a larger rear window. The car sold very well and became in January the first British car to be manufactured in one million examples. The model was manufactured as two- and four-door saloons, a two-door cabriolet and as an estate Traveller. There were also a couple of light trucks, a van and a pickup in a series called Morris Commercial.
Despite new models such as the Mini and 1100 there remained demand for the Morris Minor which was manufactured throughout the 1960s and into the 1970s. The last one built was a Traveller on 1 April 1971.
A total of 1,303,331 different Morris Minors were manufactured.
