"A beautifully restored car that cruises along the road with ease. Its charming light blue paintwork gives it plenty of character and period appeal.

Mechanically, the car is in good condition, although there are still a few interior details that require attention to complete the restoration."

Beschreibung

This car was first registered in March 1959. History does not reveal where it was originally delivered, but it eventually made its way to Dalarna, where it was owned and used by two owners over a period of approximately ten years. The car was later relocated to Örebro, and in 2018 it was acquired by its current owner.

The current owner is a dedicated Saab enthusiast with several garages full of Saabs, the majority of them two-stroke models. The car was subsequently dismantled, with the body being restored and repainted. The engine was also removed and replaced with an 850 cc engine from 1966, fitted with a 1964 cylinder head.

In addition to the bodywork and paint restoration, the following work has been carried out:

Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand

  • Zustand technisch

    The engine and transmission perform well, and all technical functions are in proper working order. There are no further issues to note. The underbody is in very good condition, as shown in the photographs.

  • Zustand Interieur

    The interior is the car’s Achilles’ heel. The front seats are worn and cracked in places. The same applies to the door panels and the rear-seat side panels. A roll of new fabric, similar to the original material, is included with the car. At the time of inspection, a seat cover set was installed and is in good usable condition. A headliner is included but has not been installed. The car features a stylish sport steering wheel and an attractive dashboard.

  • Zustand Exterieur

    Repainted throughout, as previously mentioned. The chrome and glass are in good condition. New trim has been installed around the doors and windows, along with a new windshield. The tires have good tread depth but are approximately 20 years old. There is no significant cracking visible in them.

  • Zustand gesamt

    The car presents a very good overall impression and is guaranteed to attract plenty of attention at summer car meets. With a little care and attention to the interior, you'll have a truly charming 'Jungle Drum' to cruise around in under the summer sun.

Fakten zum Modell

The Saab 93B was launched in September 1957 as an improved and more modern version of the original Saab 93, which had been introduced in 1955. Drawing heavily on Saab's aviation heritage, it became an iconic Swedish automobile with a distinctive place in automotive history.

Production Period: Manufactured from September 1957 until August 1959.

Design and Bodywork: Styled by renowned designer Sixten Sason.

Engine and Performance: The car was powered by a 748 cc three-cylinder two-stroke engine producing 33 horsepower in its original form. Power was transmitted through a three-speed manual gearbox.

Technical Updates: During the autumn of 1958, the model received upgraded, more powerful brakes. It also featured a 12-volt electrical system, which was considered unusually advanced for its class at the time.

Export History: The Saab 93 was the first Saab model to be exported on a larger scale, with a significant portion of production sold in the United States.

Successor: The model was briefly replaced by the transitional Saab 93F, which featured front-hinged doors, before the groundbreaking Saab 96 took over in 1960.

Door Configuration

The Saab 93B was equipped with rear-hinged doors, commonly referred to as suicide doors. The hinges were mounted at the rear edge of the door, causing the doors to open toward the front of the car.

The development of the 93-series doors followed this sequence:

Saab 93 (1955–1957): Featured a split windshield and rear-hinged doors.
Saab 93B (1957–1959): Introduced a one-piece windshield but retained the rear-hinged doors.
Saab 93F (1959–1960): Received front-hinged doors, paving the way for the Saab 96.

When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
  • Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
  • When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
  • If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
  • If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
  • Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
  • For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
