This 1959 Corvette has a history that can be traced back to Michigan, USA, where the car belonged for many years to Paul Tuttle. When Paul passed away around 1982–1983, the car was put into storage in an outbuilding in Hastings, Michigan. The intention was that one of his children would eventually take over the car, but the years passed and the Corvette remained untouched and largely forgotten for almost 25 years.
It was not until early 2009 that the car emerged again. Paul’s widow then sold the Corvette to Pro Team Corvette in Napoleon, Ohio. That same spring, it was purchased by its current Swedish owner and began its journey across the Atlantic. In 2010, the Corvette was registered in Sweden and a new chapter in its history began.
Since then, the car has undergone extensive mechanical updating with the focus on making it both usable and enjoyable to drive. The exhaust system is new, and the front suspension and wheel assemblies have been fully overhauled. The braking system has been converted to a dual-circuit setup and fitted with front disc brakes.
During the current ownership, the engine has also been replaced with a fully rebuilt 283 engine from Birka Racing. This is paired with a new four-speed manual gearbox. The rear axle ratio has been changed from 3.70:1 to 3.08:1, giving more relaxed and economical cruising at higher speeds. The radiator and heater matrix are also new.
It is clear that this Corvette has not merely been kept as a collector’s item. During the current ownership, it has covered around 37,000 kilometres, mainly on holiday trips. The body has been repainted in the red sections in front of the windscreen and on the doors.
The car is generally in fine condition, although naturally it shows some signs of age and use. There is tape and some minor cracking to the sides of the dashboard, and the windscreen has scratches as well as a small stone chip. Some seals show age-related cracking, and a few chrome trim pieces are slightly dented. The interior is in good condition with some wear. The radio is not working, and one door panel sits slightly loose along the upper edge.
The underside is in good condition, and the overall impression is of a well-cared-for Corvette with an interesting history.
The car is supplied with its original engine separately, together with copies of the car’s Certificate of Title.

In 1956, the Corvette received an updated body that gave the model a fresh new appearance. The following year, Rochester-developed fuel injection was introduced as an option. Engine capacity had by then increased to 283 cu in (4.6 litres), and in fuel-injected form the engine produced 283 hp, making it one of the first production engines in the world to achieve one horsepower per cubic inch.
For 1958, the Corvette was updated again, this time with considerably more chrome detailing. Quad headlights were introduced, along with the distinctive “washboard” treatment on the bonnet. The additional trim also made the 1958 model one of the heaviest Corvettes of the first generation.

The new rear featured a boat-tail-inspired shape and the now-classic four round taillights, a design element that has remained closely associated with the Corvette ever since.

- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
