Beschreibung
One year later, the current owner bought the car and drove it for a couple of years before beginning the process of restoring the Peugeot 205 GTI into an attractive youngtimer, ready to proudly represent the GTI rockets of the 1980s and 1990s on the enthusiast-car scene.
The most recent approved inspection was carried out recently, on 5 August 2026.
Teknische Daten
Beurteilung Fahrzeugzustand
-
Zustand technisch
The engine has been extensively rebuilt, and the photos of the underside show just how thoroughly the mechanical work has been carried out. The crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons have all been inspected and remain original and untouched. The engine is in very good condition and showed good compression during testing.
It feels lively and responsive, especially higher up in the rev range, and delivers plenty of driving enjoyment on smaller roads.
The new front springs still need some time to settle before the car achieves the correct stance. The owner feels that it currently sits slightly too high at the front. -
Zustand Interieur
There is a certain new-car feel to the interior, but not quite. The original components have been restored, giving it just the right level of freshness and a very good feel in the materials, controls and switches. The carpets, headliner, manual sunroof and door panels all convey the same impression.
-
Zustand Exterieur
Smart and presentable in both paint and bodywork, the car was repainted in its original colour in 2021. The original wheels have, of course, also been refurbished and are fitted with newer, barely used Goodyear EfficientGrip tyres from 2020.
-
Zustand gesamt
Lively and enjoyable, with all the entertaining qualities that made the 205 GTI such a popular and well-loved representative of what the motoring press at the time described as a fiercely competitive class.

Fakten zum Modell
To strengthen the brand, Peugeot also invested heavily in motorsport and Group B rallying. The 205 Turbo 16 in competition form achieved major success in several versions, and the road-going homologation version of the 205 T16 is today a highly sought-after collector’s car.
The more conventional 205 GTI was introduced in January 1984 as Peugeot’s answer to the Volkswagen Golf GTI. The 205 GTI featured a stiffer chassis, improved brakes, spoilers and alloy wheels.
The first version was powered by a 1.6-litre engine producing 105 hp, while the later 1.9-litre version developed 130 hp, or 122 hp in Sweden with emissions equipment. It could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 200 km/h.
Over a ten-year period, just under 333,000 Peugeot 205 GTIs were produced, while total production of the Peugeot 205 reached 5.2 million cars.
The 205 as a model is widely regarded as having played a crucial role in securing Peugeot’s financial recovery.
