"A charming car that hasn't been used much in recent years, in very good condition."

Description

This very fine Saab 92B has only had three owners. The first two were within the same family. The current owner purchased the car in the fall of 1984. He saw it while on vacation on Gotland and asked the then-owner if he could buy it, and so it happened. It underwent a thorough renovation in the early '90s. The car was disassembled into parts, and parts of the chassis and the entire body were blasted. The Saab was professionally painted in 1994 and it is still in very good condition. According to the owner, the car has never been patched for rust, and no signs of rust patches were seen at the time of photography. Much has been renovated and replaced. For instance, the engine has been rebuilt, the seats and rear seat have been reupholstered, a new clutch cylinder has been installed, and it has received a new charging relay. The brakes have been inspected and repaired, and new brake hoses have also been fitted. In 2023, the wheels were blasted and painted, and the car received new tires as part of this process. The Saab's chrome work has been rechromed and looks as if it were new. Since the current owner has had it, the car has always been stored in a garage. A Saab in very good condition.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car runs smoothly in terms of engine and drivetrain. Under the hood, everything is in very good condition. All electrical equipment works well, but the fuel gauge needs adjustment as it shows a slight error. Newly painted wheels with new summer tires were installed in 2023.

  • Interior condition

The interior is in good condition with reupholstered seats and rear seat. An attempt has been made to replicate the color and pattern of the original fabric as closely as possible, but it differs slightly from the original. The instrument panel is in good condition. The headliner and rubber floor mats are in good and fine condition.

  • Exterior condition

The Saab has been disassembled into its components, and the body has been professionally blasted and painted. The body is straight and neat in its lines, with the panels fitting well. Despite its 30 years, the paint is in very good and glossy condition. According to the owner, the car has never been patched for rust, and no rust patches were discovered at the time of photography. The underside of the car is also in good condition. The rechromed chrome work is in very good condition. However, the rubber seal around the windshield has dry cracks, as seen in the picture.

  • General condition

One of the finest early Saabs I've come across. A delight to behold. It is as pristine under the carpets and in its details as it is on the outside. In very fine condition overall.

Facts about the model

These early Saabs are full of aviation genes. Since Saab was fundamentally an aircraft manufacturer, engineers and ideas from the aviation side were incorporated. With good aerodynamics, there's no need for a large and heavy engine with many horsepower. With a small and light engine with fewer horsepower, the driving characteristics became just as good, if not better. The concept proved to be effective with some modernizations lasting until 1980. The chief designer and driving force behind the project was Gunnar Ljungström. Sixten Sason was responsible for the design. Sason, incidentally, has an impressive list of successful designs in his portfolio.
