"A very nicely restored LV in original condition. While there may be minor details to refine for the truly particular enthusiast, the overall impression is, in our view"

Description

A lovely “Spetsnos” (pointed nose) that was originally sold in Vrigstad to the brewery company A.V. Svenssons Bryggeri on March 3rd, 1949. The original registration certificate can be seen in the photos. Beautiful green with yellow details, and according to the current owner, this is how it looked in 1949. It was likely restored during the 1990s with a new paint job and a new bed. Whether the engine has ever been restored or serviced is unclear, but both the engine and gearbox run very smoothly. The original owner’s manual and some older inspection reports are included, the earliest one from 1968.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine sounds as it should, and the gearbox—being non-synchronized—also operates correctly. Double-clutching is required, and the instructions for engaging the low gear are still attached to the dashboard. The brakes, as well as the rest of the mechanical and electrical systems, are working well. Possible exception regarding the functionality of the fuel gauge.

  • Interior condition

The interior is in great condition with all the original, well-preserved seats. The panels, floor mats, and headliner are also in excellent condition.

  • Exterior condition

The exterior is in good condition. There are a few minor cosmetic imperfections, but nothing that stands out. The green-painted bed is slightly chipped, for example, but it only adds to the car's used look, which we don't think is a problem.

  • General condition

A very good overall impression, in our opinion. Consistently great condition throughout, making this fine LV a truly remarkable vehicle.

Facts about the model

In 1938, Volvo introduced its light truck "Spetsnosen" alongside the passenger car model PV800. The two models shared the engine, radiator grille, and hood. The smallest model, LV101, was mechanically almost identical to the passenger car, while the larger LV102 was more of a truck type.

In 1940, the range was expanded with the powerful LV110/111/112, featuring three different wheelbases.

After World War II, the model series was updated to the L201/202, with a slightly stronger ED engine.
