"The owner of this car is a genuine Volvo enthusiast, endowed with an extensive network of knowledge and contacts. The car was meticulously renovated over an extended period, with the renovation completing in 2017. Subsequently, it was added to his collection and has been sparingly driven during the summer months. This car is possibly the finest example I have encountered, operating and driving exceptionally well, and it recently received a replacement radiator."

Description

Initially sold to a taxi company in Ekträsk, just outside Umeå, this car was primarily used for transporting schoolchildren until the late 1960s. The region's salt free climate played a crucial role in preserving it from rust. After being off the road for many years, it changed hands several times from the 1980s through to 2000 before the current owner, a dedicated Volvo enthusiast who also owns other classic Volvos, acquired it in 2007. The owner undertook a comprehensive body-off restoration, focusing on sourcing the correct parts and achieving the highest quality restoration, with little concern for expenses. This restoration, which included a thorough review and rebuild of the engine, took about 10 years to complete. The car was registered in 2013 and passed its final inspection in 2017. Since then, it has been lightly used, mainly appearing at local summer car shows and family events. Finding a finer example would be difficult, as it still looks fantastic and features a wonderfully smooth-running 6-cylinder engine. Simply turning the key is a pleasure, offering the joy of owning this remarkable vehicle. It comes with an extensive collection of older documents, receipts, and photographs of the restoration process.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car starts instantly, powered by an impressively smooth-running ED 6-cylinder engine, complemented by an effortless gearshift and reliable brakes that collectively ensure a delightful driving experience. It undergoes thorough reviews and servicing annually, and it recently received a new radiator, underscoring that there's nothing in need of repair. Additionally, it boasts attractive wheels and hubcaps, along with newer, high-quality tires.

  • Interior condition

Interior presents itself in an exceptionally fine and original state, complete with the old taxi meter and radio intact. All the seats, including the rear fold-out ones, are in prime condition, complemented by durable rubber carpets and tastefully updated door cards. The headliner is also in good shape, though it has become slightly loose around the rear window. This was deliberately not replaced to maintain the car's overall authentic ambiance. The dashboard and gauges, all original, are in great condition, enhancing the interior's charm with their artistically designed speedometer numbers.

  • Exterior condition

The bodywork is impeccably straight, free from rust and damage, boasting excellent shut lines and panel gaps, while the underbody appears in outstanding condition. The paintwork features a deep, shiny black finish, complemented by brilliantly polished, undamaged chrome details. Additional features include a rear-mounted luggage and bike rack, enhancing its functionality and aesthetic appeal. All the chrome elements have been either meticulously renovated or replaced, ensuring a gleaming appearance. Upon close inspection, a minor paint crack can be observed on the bonnet, along with a few small scratches (as detailed in pictures), but these minor imperfections do not detract from the car's overall stunning presentation.

  • General condition

The cost and hours invested in its renovation remain unspoken, but the exceptional attention to detail is undeniable. This car is set to provide its next owner with years of enjoyment, requiring only routine maintenance. Its going to be hard to find a better one.
