Description

Ford 81A is the model designation for the 1938 Ford V8—a car that marked an important step in Ford’s development during the interwar period. It built on the previous year's model but featured several technical and design improvements. It was a car for the people and has since gained iconic status, especially among vintage car and hot rod enthusiasts.

This particular car was purchased by the current owner in 2012 as a restoration project. According to the story, the car had been imported from New Mexico, where it had served as a home for some chickens. The current owner has fully restored and rebuilt the Ford to the condition it’s in today, with all that entails.

For example, the original engine was in poor shape when he acquired the car, so he sourced a brand-new Chevrolet 350 engine, still on the pallet, along with a matching 350 automatic transmission. A great deal of time and effort has gone into this high-quality build, which passed inspection and was approved by the Swedish vehicle inspection authority in May 2021.

The car has only driven about 4,000 kilometers since its completion. The Ford is also equipped with a tow hitch and is approved to tow a trailer of up to 1,500 kg with a standard category B driving license.
