Description
The car was purchased by the current owner's family in the mid-1960s and was actively used for a few years. It was then taken off the road and stored in a garage for many years, eventually dropping out of the vehicle register. In 2023, it was brought back out and restored—minor rust was repaired, and the car received a new paint job in 2024.
It was re-registered with a new number, inspected, and made roadworthy. During the winter of 2024/25, the engine underwent a complete renovation.

The engine is newly rebuilt and runs very well. It handles nicely on the road, and the brakes work perfectly.

Original interior with some cosmetic blemishes—would benefit from a proper detailing.
There’s a small tear on the passenger seat backrest and some moisture stains on the headliner. -
Exterior condition
The car was repainted a year ago, and the work was well done. The chrome is in good condition with only a few small pits.
Good tires on original rims. -

The Volvo PV 544 A began production in 1958, but its design was still clearly recognizable from its predecessor, the PV 444—although larger windows and new taillights gave it a slightly different character.
The interior featured many updates, including an instrument panel similar to that of the Amazon, a hanging gas pedal, and a handbrake positioned between the front seats.
The Volvo PV 544 A, produced between 1958 and 1960, was available in Standard, Special I, Special II, and Sport versions. The most basic model was the Standard, equipped with the B16A engine and a three-speed gearbox.
It wasn’t until August 1960 that the B model was introduced, with fully synchronized gearboxes as the main improvement.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
