Description
The car was regularly driven up until its last inspection in 2015, when the mileage was recorded at 192,200 km. Today, the odometer shows 196,187 km. It was then parked in a garage due to the need for a rear bumper repair and some rust around the wing edges — work that was planned but never completed. A factory-new rear bumper is included with the car.
The owner has recently started the car, and it now runs and drives. However, a temporary repair was carried out on the fuel pump, and it will require proper installation and replacement of some fuel lines, as there is currently a leak.
The bodywork shows rust, mainly around the edges of the wings (see photos), which should be a straightforward repair for someone with the right skills. The electric roof and windows are fully functional. The soft top is complete, with some scuffs and marks consistent with age. The electric aerial is not working correctly — it runs noisily for a short period before stopping.
An ideal project for someone looking to restore a desirable model. Well-sorted examples are now selling in the €20,000–€30,000 range, often with higher mileage, making this a strong opportunity for the right buyer with future upside potential.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
Starts easily and runs OK, but requires a full service and inspection. Short test drive shows the gearbox and brakes function properly, though there is a fuel leak. All electrics work, including the roof, mirrors, and windows.
Last inspected in 2015 — the car requires full recommissioning. Must be collected on a trailer, but can be driven for loading. -
Interior condition
Interior finished in grey leather with matching door panels and wood trim on the dashboard. The seats are in overall good condition, with minor wear to the driver’s bolster and small tears on the passenger seat. The rear seat has a small hole, and there is some mouse damage to the rear right side panel and the leather pocket on the back of the passenger seat (see pictures), though nothing major.
Headliner, carpets, and remaining panels are in good condition. The dashboard is undamaged and retains its original instrumentation. The air conditioning is not working and will require attention. -
Exterior condition
Bodywork is straight and presents well from a distance, but closer inspection reveals rust around the wings and along the edges (see pictures). Replacement panels are readily available, and the existing wings should also be repairable. There is a hole in the rear bumper, though a new factory replacement bumper is included.
The underbody appears solid, with mainly light surface rust around structural braces. The soft top has some scuffs but no major damage. The windscreen is cracked on the passenger side.
The car sits on a good set of four alloy wheels with older tyres. Overall, the paintwork is clean and would respond well to a polish. -
General condition
A super practical cabriolet with iconic, sleek design and strong youngtimer appeal. It just needs the right owner with time and know-how to bring it back to its former glory and address the rust repairs.
