"Incredibly well-restored car that runs perfectly and functions flawlessly. MOT-exempt and ready to drive."

Description

Sven-Eric Kjäll was a well-known and highly skilled mechanic who ran a reputable car workshop in Nässjö, Sweden. He purchased this MGB in 2001, at which time it was in need of restoration. The car was completely disassembled and meticulously restored — the body was stripped down to bare metal, painted in parts, and then carefully reassembled.

The engine, drivetrain, and brakes were all rebuilt, and many new parts were purchased. The entire restoration is thoroughly documented in a binder that includes photos and receipts.

Once the restoration was complete, Sven-Eric drove the car only sparingly. Sadly, he passed away in 2024, and his widow has now decided to sell the car to an enthusiast who will appreciate and preserve its excellent condition.

Facts about the model

In the late 1950s, the project that would become the MGB was launched as a successor to the MGA. The new roadster was unveiled in September 1962 and was well received by both the motoring press and the buying public. It featured a 1798 cc engine with twin SU carburetors, offering strong performance for its time. The standard gearbox was a four-speed manual, but buyers could opt for an electric overdrive for a modest extra cost.

From 1965 onwards, the car received several technical upgrades, including a five-bearing crankshaft, a standard oil cooler, and an electric tachometer. Two years later, MG managed to fit a six-cylinder engine into the small roadster, available in both open and closed versions.

For the 1970 model year, the front grille design was updated, and steel wheels were replaced with distinctive Rostyle alloy wheels. Wire wheels, a classic MGB feature, remained available as an option throughout production.

The MGB even saw the addition of a Rover V8 engine in certain variants. Production of the model continued until 1981. Thanks to its lasting popularity, many components — including brand-new body shells — are still manufactured today, allowing enthusiasts to build or restore cars almost from scratch.

The MGB is a beloved and iconic model that never goes out of style.
