Description
The car was delivered to its first owner in November 2001 by the Volvo dealership in Kinna. Eleven years and just over 20,000 kilometers later, the owner's daughter took over the car and used it until 2019, when the current owner purchased it.
Over the past seven years, the car has accumulated the majority of its total mileage — just over 62,000 km.
The current owner has used the car very sparingly over six years, yet still added a little over 10,000 kilometers and kept up with regular servicing, including a timing belt replacement in 2021 at 51,960 km.
The most recent approved inspection was carried out on October 28, 2024.

Engine, transmission, brakes, and chassis all perform as they should — with no strange noises or complaints. The engine is a four-cylinder version from the same family as Volvo’s beloved and now legendary five-cylinder powerplant.

Interior condition
Well-kept and fresh overall, especially considering the mileage. No noticeable wear — seats, steering wheel, controls, carpets, door panels, and headliner are all in good, clean condition.

Exterior condition
Largely original paint, with the front fenders having been repainted due to parking damage. A few small blemishes are present. The plastic engine undertray is missing, but the owner is currently searching for a replacement and hopes to include it with the car after the auction.
Older Michelin tires with good tread on original alloy wheels. -
General condition
A future enthusiast’s classic — representing the brand’s last Dutch-built model, offered here with low mileage, well-preserved condition, and solid documentation.

Facts about the model
The first-generation S40 was developed and produced in collaboration with Mitsubishi’s Carisma model. It replaced the Volvo 440/460 series on September 7, 1995, and was manufactured in Born, the Netherlands.
The wagon version was marketed as the Volvo V40. This was the first model to introduce the new S/V naming convention, where “V” stood for versatility.
Originally, the car was to be named S4, but the name was shelved after Audi objected due to its similarity to their Audi S4.
The engines offered belonged to the same engine family as Volvo’s five-cylinder engine from the 850, but in this application were four-cylinder versions. The turbocharged models used gearboxes borrowed from the 850, which meant they had a different gear pattern (reverse down to the right) compared to the standard models (reverse up to the left).
A 1.8-liter engine from Mitsubishi was also available — the same one used in the Carisma, which shared both the platform and the production line.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
