Condition
-
Mechanical condition
Starts easily and ran eagerly in both engine and drivetrain. During a gentle test drive on a small country road, everything appeared to function as it should — steering, clutch, gear changes, handling, brakes, etc. Not inspected on a lift, but it was professionally rustproofed in 2015. Before that, a section of sheet metal was replaced in the left front floor. No remarks during inspections.
-
Interior condition
Well-preserved original interior in normal condition for its age and mileage. Good seat comfort, with door panels, trim, carpets, and headlining all in good condition. Steering wheel, controls, dashboard, and gauges are in good shape, with a small crack visible in the dashboard. All electrics appear to be working, except for the air conditioning and electric mirrors, which are non-functional.
-
Exterior condition
Completely repainted around 2015 and still in good, well-preserved condition with normal wear since then. Some minor signs of rust in a body/fender seam and in the engine bay. Glass, trim, emblems, and lighting details are in good condition for the car’s age and mileage. Nice aluminium wheels and good tyres. Engine bay and luggage compartment also in good condition.
-
General condition
This example has been enhanced with an even more potent engine and is in good working order, otherwise retaining its original Grand Prix specification. This ensures a classic with racing ambitions as well as enthusiast and collector status.

Facts about the model
While much of the Berlina’s underpinnings carried over, the coupé’s appearance was entirely different — relatively sleek, low, and sporty in profile. It looked fast even when standing still, though during the oil crises of the era it was relatively modestly powered, albeit with a pleasant sound and grand touring ambitions. Rear-wheel drive combined with good weight distribution, well-tuned chassis, and refined suspension gave it excellent, sporty driving characteristics.
In the 1981 upgrade, the Alfetta name was dropped, and the car was left to stand on its own merits — which it did. At this point, it finally received a stronger engine, a 2.5-litre V6. It was simply named the GTV 6 and quickly earned the nickname “Turbo Killer,” as it was marketed in direct competition with the turbo craze of the time. Alfa themselves also produced a turbocharged version, though it used a four-cylinder engine of just under two litres and was built in a small series by the brand’s racing division.
The GTV 6 became a popular car during the yuppie era, appealing to an upwardly mobile young audience. The 2.5-litre V6 in particular was well-received in the press. A 3.0-litre V6 version was also produced in South Africa.
The special Grand Prix version of the GTV 6 was introduced for the 1985 model year in a few select markets, primarily Germany and Switzerland, with a small number also finding their way to Sweden. Its most distinctive feature was a body kit designed by Rayton Fissore. According to reports, only about 800 examples were built, making it a historically significant car.
In total, the coupé version was produced over 13 years in 135,400 examples.
