"An incredibly fine car that runs excellent, with only minor remarks on the interior. From what I can see, the car has never been welded; the bodywork is straight and in great condition."

Description

This car was sold new in Sweden and has been used sparingly by enthusiastic owners. In 1997, it was purchased by a close friend of the current owner, who had a small collection of fine cars and drove them sparingly during the summer months. In 2023, the friend passed away, and the current owner inherited the collection. The car is now being sold as there is not enough time or space to keep these fine vehicles.

Facts about the model

The W111 was introduced in August 1959 in three versions, each with different equipment levels and tuned variations of the well-known 2.2-liter inline-six engine. The body, which was shared with the four-cylinder W110, featured panoramic windows and tailfins. While these design elements were all the rage in the United States during the 1950s, they quickly made the car feel outdated. As a result, the successor, the W108, was introduced as early as August 1965.

However, Mercedes-Benz didn’t abandon the W111 body style. In July 1965, they introduced the 230 S as an entry-level model to the S-Class. This model was produced until January 1968.
