"A very interesting time capsule that works just as well today as it surely did when new. The car has truly been used as intended, judging by its worn appearance, yet it still retains all its charm."

Description

An early Land Rover that has been in Jämtland/Härjedalen since new. Documented ownership goes back to the mid-1950s. It has a worn appearance but is in good, usable condition. Most of the vehicle appears to be original, although some parts may have been replaced over the years. The engine and the rest of the drivetrain are in good working order. The current owner, a knowledgeable member of the marque club, has cared for the vehicle, resulting in a number of improvements.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The engine starts and runs very smoothly. The gearboxes work flawlessly. The clutch and release bearing have been replaced. The front suspension has new ball joints, new seals and bearings, new bushings and bearings for the steering. See exploded view.

  • Interior condition

The spartan interior is largely original, but the seats have been partially reupholstered in material and color similar to the original. The seat cushions are slightly modified and more comfortable than the originals. The gauges are in working order.

  • Exterior condition

The paintwork is very worn, but the car has held up well against rust. The undercarriage is also in good condition considering its age and use. Surface rust is naturally present, but overall the car has been spared from major corrosion. The canvas top was made more recently and serves its purpose.

  • General condition

Despite its worn appearance, this is a solid off-road vehicle that has truly been used but has survived largely thanks to enthusiastic and knowledgeable owners.
