Mechanical condition
The car runs excellently and shifts smoothly once warmed up. Recently had a start-up service. The electric sunroof functions flawlessly. The air conditioning does not cool. The fuel gauge does not function.

Interior condition
Fine interior with normal wear for the mileage. A couple of seams repaired in the seats. An occasional rattle from the interior light in the window frame.

Exterior condition
The paintwork is in very fine condition with only a few minor stone chips. Fine tyres on original wheels. Soft top and hardtop in good condition. The insulation under the bonnet has been removed as it had deteriorated due to the car being stored in a garage for approximately 20 years.

Facts about the model
The new SL model was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1988 and went into production in May of the same year. The design was attributed to Bruno Sacco. The first model year was designated 1989 and the model was manufactured until model year 2002. As always when a new Mercedes model arrived, it was quite a step up. In addition to reconnecting with the classic gullwing doors in the new model, Mercedes wanted to be a leader in new technology and exclusive design. They also made a point of linking their DNA with fast sports roadsters, luxurious coupés and safe sedan models. What was missing was the seemingly impossible combination of an aesthetically pleasing sports car that offered performance and comfort together with high safety requirements. However, this combination was now possible with their new SL. All according to their own words in the first brochure for the model. The text concludes with: Here tradition is combined with innovation. Safety with comfort. All of this on a high, indeed even incomparable level. First out was a 300 SL-24 and a 500 SL. Over the years came everything from straight-sixes, V-sixes, V-eights and V-12s. For model year 1994 came a facelift, which for model year 1996 received yet another update and then received another facelift for model year 1999. Small and large technical changes were made year after year until model year 2002, when the successor R230 was launched. A total of 213,089 units of model R129 were manufactured.

General information about the condition of the vehicles .
- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
