"Smart Volvo that runs excellently and presents a very good impression both inside and out."

Description

The car was purchased by the current owner in very fine restored condition but with certain matters requiring attention. He had ColorGlo take care of the original seats and they renovated these. The radiator and steering rod have been replaced and the brakes have been renovated. He has since driven the car sparingly during the summer months. When not in use it has been stored in temperature-controlled dry premises.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car runs well and everything functions properly. The overdrive makes for pleasant engine revs during highway driving.

The current owner has renovated the brakes, brake cylinders and replaced the brake hoses. The radiator is new, and the oil filter and spark plugs have been replaced.

  • Interior condition

Very fine original upholstery with seats renovated by ColorGlo. Carpets, door panels and remaining interior are of high quality with minimal signs of use.

  • Exterior condition

The car was professionally repainted approximately 15 years ago and still maintains excellent condition. The current owner had Ditec treat the paintwork in 2025. Smart Clover wheels with fine tyres. Apart from a very small blister in front of the windscreen, the car is completely flawless.

  • General condition

Wonderful 1800E that deservedly attracts attention at outings and gatherings. A fine and comfortable car from the early 1970s.

Facts about the model

Volvo P1800 is a Swedish sports car classic that was launched in 1960 and began production in 1961. The first cars were built by Jensen Motors in England, but in 1963 production was moved to Gothenburg and the model became the P1800S.

The car used Volvo's proven B18 and later B20 engines, which provided excellent reliability. Between 1971 and 1973, the P1800 ES, a sports estate with a distinctive glass tailgate, was also manufactured.

The P1800 became internationally known through the TV series The Saint, where Roger Moore drove the model as Simon Templar. It is also known for its durability, notably through Irv Gordon's P1800 which was driven over 500,000 km.

Today, the P1800 is a sought-after collector car where original condition, rust-free bodywork, correct drivetrain and documented history are of great importance to its value.
