Facts about the model
The beautiful BMW 502 shared many similarities with the 501 but differed significantly in one aspect: the small aluminum V8 engine instead of the weak six-cylinder. When the 502 was presented at the International Motor Show in Geneva in 1954, BMW had already started production two years earlier with its first post-war model, the 501. The technology was derived from the 326 but modernized with torsion bar suspension. With its beautiful, voluptuous shapes, it soon earned the nickname "Baroque Angel" – a moniker that carried over to the 502, which received a larger rear window and more chrome in terms of bodywork. In addition to the regular four-door model, the "Baroque Angel" was available with both open and closed two-door bodies from the German coachbuilder Baur.
