"Older renovation and repainting that still looks good. There are some small scratches visible (see photographs). There is no rust. A lot of money has been spent on the chassis and engine. New inspection/MOT, therefore free for life"

Description

The current owner purchased the car during a visit to a huge VW gathering in Nevada in 2014, and it arrived in Sweden in 2015. The car was owned in the United States by a VW enthusiast who rebuilt it and modified the engine and chassis in the 1990s for improved driving pleasure. The car is powered by an 1845cc engine with a dual Weber IDA 40 carburetor and an additional oil cooler and filter (see photos). According to the previous owner, the engine was developed by the famed VW race engine builder Jim Behrens using EMPI / Race trim parts and delivers an estimated 130-140 HP. The car has been inspected for registration with a larger engine and is now approved for inspection/MOT for the rest of its life. The gearbox and gearbox brackets have been upgraded to accommodate higher power. The brakes are for Type 3 vehicles, and the rear suspension, known as IRS (independent rear suspension), is from a later generation and gives substantially greater road grip. Because the car was made for display, the base plate was painted red, and other elements were chromed and anodized. Despite the fact that this was done 25 years ago, the car is still in great condition and runs like a dream. It's a lot of fun to drive and looks great. The engine alone cost more than $10,000 at the time. Opportunity for those looking for a fun VW cab that also stands out just enough.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car starts and runs well. Strong engine that revs quickly when accelerating and creates strong acceleration; hence, the car should be driven carefully. Everything works properly. It's a lot of fun to drive and has a wonderful exhaust sound. The mileage is 58,0000 km, but it's more likely that it's been driven around the clock; the car hasn't been driven much since the 1990s, now part of a VW collection.

  • Interior condition

Complete and fine upholstery and carpets. Typical sports steering wheel. No remarks.

  • Exterior condition

The body is complete and attractive. Has never been in an accident, rusted, or been damaged. White paint in good, unused condition. There have been some improvements, as well as some cracked paint above the exhaust pipes (see photos). The convertible top is complete and in good condition. On the outside, the car is still in its original form.

  • General condition

One of the nicest and toughest older VW cabs we've seen. The car was totally renovated and upgraded 25 years ago and is still in good condition, so everything was done nicely.
