New information 10 december 2024. Air-conditioning has received maintenance today and is tested and working.
The car was originally sold new in the USA and imported to Sweden as relocation goods in 1998. According to the vehicle registry, it has had 8 registered owners. However, it has remained within the same family throughout its history, with ownership changes occurring due to inheritance. The first owner was the primary driver and cherished the car. Since then, it has mainly been stored in garages by subsequent heirs and has seen very little use.
The current owner acquired the car last autumn and has performed a service, installed new tires and a new battery, and had it inspected by the Swedish vehicle inspection agency. The instrument cluster was also replaced with a better pre-owned one, as the original speedometer had stopped working. The defective speedometer is included separately (see photo). The old speedometer displayed 106,136 km, while the replacement cluster shows 119,920 miles. (It is unclear whether the mileage was recorded in miles or kilometers.)
The car has only been driven during the summer since new and therefore does not come with winter tires. It includes one ignition key. As the car was part of an estate, the owner's manual has been lost.
The original spare wheel and jack are included, as well as a clean Carfax report.

V8 engine with a stated output of 326 hp, paired with an automatic transmission. The car underwent a service, including an oil change, in autumn 2024. It starts without issues, operates normally, and drives smoothly on the road.
The cruise control has an intermittent issue: it disengages after a while, and the owner is unsure of the cause. It can be reactivated and works again for a short time. Air conditioning is tested and working. -
Interior condition
The interior is in excellent condition with minimal wear. Equipped with a more recent car radio featuring a CD player.

Exterior condition
The car is in excellent condition, with no parking dents, rust, or other defects. New tires were installed in 2024. The hardtop has been mounted for most of its life, ensuring the soft top remains in perfect condition, free from damage or sun fading.

Owner's comment
I purchased the car through an acquaintance who had contact with the owner’s family. It was described as being in excellent condition, and it exceeded my expectations when I saw it in person. I have had the car serviced, including an oil and filter change. I also purchased new tires, as the old ones had dry cracks, and installed a new battery. Additionally, I sourced a used speedometer to replace the original one. The old unit seemed to have a loose connection, and some indicator lights were not working. With the replacement speedometer, everything now functions perfectly. The original speedometer is included and stored in the trunk.
Facts about the model
In 1989, the successor to the 107 series was finally introduced. The new SL class was based on the W124 E-Class but also featured engines from the W140 S-Class. The R129 came with advanced features such as adjustable shock absorbers and a deployable roll bar that activated if the car was about to overturn. The R129 received updates in 1993 and 1996, including new engine options. Like its predecessor, the R107, the R129 became a long-running model and firmly established the SL class as a bestseller in its niche.

- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
