Description
The second Swedish owner purchased the car in 2012 with 61,000 km on the odometer. A dedicated BMW enthusiast with several Munich classics in his garage, he began keeping meticulous records of mileage, fuel consumption, refuelling, and oil changes. In 2014, he also commissioned a professional rustproofing treatment using cold-pressed linseed oil.
In 2019, at 90,000 km, the car passed to its third and current owner in Gothenburg. He had a new convertible top installed by Top’n Trim in Helsingborg in 2020, fitted a new radiator in 2022, and upgraded the audio system in 2025 with a modern Bluetooth-equipped version of the classic Blaupunkt Frankfurt head unit, neatly integrated into the dashboard.
The most recent roadworthiness inspection was successfully completed on May 15, 2026.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The smooth and refined inline-six, a hallmark of Munich engineering, pairs well with the automatic transmission—an uncommon specification for a Swedish-market 3 Series—and suits the character of the car perfectly. The brakes, chassis, and overall road manners are as expected, with the latter displaying the classic body movements typical of a convertible. The most recent oil service was carried out in June 2025 at 110,600 km.
-
Interior condition
Sport seats upholstered in inviting red leather provide an elegant and striking contrast to the car’s Arctic Silver Metallic exterior. The side bolsters are somewhat dry, particularly on the driver's seat, but would benefit from cleaning, conditioning, and treatment. A new Blaupunkt DAB/Bluetooth head unit with a vintage appearance has been installed together with six new speakers, all without altering the original interior. The climate control system blows cold and operates effectively.
-
Exterior condition
Good paintwork with normal signs of wear. The convertible top fabric was replaced in 2020, and the electric operating mechanism functions well. An aluminum hardtop is included, which the first owner ordered in a contrasting Cosmosschwarz finish to complement the Arctic Silver Metallic exterior—a somewhat unusual combination. A decal in the engine bay also confirms that this is a BMW Individual model. The red leather upholstery may also be part of the Individual specification, although it is not listed in the specification sheet.
The hardtop was repainted in 2021. The car is fitted with Hankook Ventus Prime 3 tires from 2018 with good tread depth, mounted on original 16-inch wheels. The current owner has also added sound insulation to the front doors and sills. -
General condition
A pleasant and well-rounded example that presents very well overall, with many sensible improvements carried out in recent years. Well cared for and accompanied by good documentation.

Facts about the model
Safety took a major step forward with the innovative automatic Roll-Over Protection System, which deployed rollover bars behind the headrests if the car was at risk of overturning. This feature was not standard on all cars, and the auction vehicle, for example, is not equipped with it. The engineers also succeeded in making the body shell considerably stiffer than that of its predecessor, helping to preserve BMW’s renowned driving dynamics despite the absence of a fixed roof.
Customers could choose from a broad engine range, spanning from the economical four-cylinder units in the 318i to the smooth inline-six engines found in the 320i, 325i, and later 328i. At the top of the range, the M3 Cabriolet delivered genuine sports car performance with 321 horsepower.
The convertible top was an entirely new design and was available in configurations ranging from fully manual operation to a fully electric system that handled the entire opening and closing process at the push of a button.
The model proved to be a major commercial success and has since evolved into a modern classic. Today, well-preserved and original six-cylinder examples are steadily appreciating in value.
