Description

A Swedish sold car that underwent a restoration by an Alfa enthusiast between 2003 and 2008, and has since been sparingly driven, maintaining its excellent condition.

In 2003, the undercarriage was sandblasted and treated with an undercoating. The following year, the sills were repaired for rust, and the car received a professional repaint in its original color. All windows, interior, etc., were removed during this process. Additionally, the De Dion rear axle and fuel lines from the tank were renovated. The car also received a new headliner when it was reassembled. The next year, a 3.0L QV engine producing 200 horsepower was installed.

The car was then put into storage in 2009 and brought back into use in 2016. At that time, a brake overhaul was performed, including new rear brake lines and calipers. In recent years, the car has been serviced at Italiensk Bilteknik, and in 2021, a major service was conducted, including a timing belt replacement, water pump replacement, new gearbox oil, new engine oil and filters, brake fluid, and coolant. The car also received a new clutch, which has lasted for 100 miles.

In addition to the standard equipment, the car features a high-quality exhaust system with ANSA tailpipes in a classic 80s look, as well as 17" Momo Star alloy wheels. The mileage is stated as 9,596 miles, reportedly having rolled over once.

The car comes with documentation, numerous inspection reports, and receipts for parts and work done. It is well-maintained, inspected, and ready to drive.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

It starts easily and runs smoothly with a wonderful sound. During the test drive, everything appears to be in good working order, including the shifting, clutch, and brakes. All other electrical components also seem to be functioning well, except for the passenger-side window regulator. The original oil pressure gauge is not reliable, so an additional working gauge has been installed. The undercarriage has not been inspected while lifted, but based on visible inspection and information provided, it appears well-maintained and free of rust.

  • Interior condition:

Overall, it is in excellent condition with nice seats, door panels, carpets, and floor mats, as well as a newer headliner. It features a wooden steering wheel and a newer JVC audio system. However, there is no cover over the fuses. There is some wear on the left side bolster of the driver's seat and minor paint damage near the driver's side entry.

  • Exterior condition:

The paintwork is glossy and in good condition, with only a few minor scratches and stone chips. The plastic and rubber components are in excellent condition. There is some wear on the window trims, primarily on the rear left side. The wheels are in good condition with minor scuffs. The engine and trunk compartments are also in great shape.

  • General condition:

A thoroughly delightful Alfa Romeo that, after restoration, retains much of its original appearance but with a more powerful engine and period-correct features that add both speed and elegance to an already exquisite classic.

Facts about the model

Alfa Romeo Alfetta Berlina, designed by Bertone, was produced from 1972 to 1984. The coupe models GT and GTV, designed by Italdesign, were manufactured from 1974 to 1987. While the Berlina shared many underpinnings, its visible design was entirely different, characterized by a sleek, low, and sporty profile. Even at a standstill, it looked fast, although it was relatively underpowered due to the oil crises of the time. Nevertheless, it had a pleasant sound and aimed to embody GT ambitions.

With rear-wheel drive, excellent weight distribution, and a well-tuned chassis and suspension, it offered fantastic and sporty driving dynamics. In the 1981 upgrade, the Alfetta name was dropped, and the car stood on its own merits. It finally received a more powerful engine, a 2.5L V6, and was renamed the GTV 6. It quickly earned the nickname "Turbodödaren" (Turbo killer) as it aimed to challenge the Turbo euphoria of the time. Alfa Romeo also developed a turbocharged version, but it was a smaller 1.8-liter engine produced in limited numbers by the brand's racing division.

The GTV 6 became a popular choice during the Yuppie era, appealing to a young and upwardly mobile audience. The 2.5-liter V6 engine garnered positive press and recognition. Alfa Romeo even produced a 3-liter V6 variant in South Africa.

In total, the coupe version was manufactured for 13 years, with 135,400 units produced.
