"A tough little car built with high precision."

Description

The builder behind this repaired Viggen plane at Såtenäs during weekdays. The idea of creating a personal sports car started with sketches and drawings that were transformed into a model. Then the full-scale construction began. As much as possible was done in stainless steel. An Alfa Romeo Alfasud Sprint contributed its driveline, which was placed behind the driver's seats. A lot of time was devoted to calculating balance, wheel angles, and suspensions. When the chassis was completed, the semi-finished car was taken to Kinnekulle Ring, where it performed as expected and reportedly achieved high speeds around the track. Named BETEC, it was completed and inspected, receiving approval as an amateur-built vehicle in 2011. Since the main focus was on the creation process, it has been used relatively sparingly after its completion.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition:

The car is built on a central frame with trusswork. It features a mid-engine configuration, and the driveline consists of a four-cylinder boxer engine and a five-speed gearbox from the Alfasud. The rear brakes are from the Alfasud Sprint, while the front brakes are from Wilwood. The front and rear axles are custom-made. Everything essential is functioning, although there is a slight issue with a squealing fan belt. However, the car has not been extensively used since it was completed in 2011. Overall, this feels like a well-balanced and meticulously designed construction.

  • Interior condition:

The car has a spartan and sporty interior with a good driving position and ample legroom. The instrument cluster is taken from the Alfasud, and everything is in good condition.

  • Exterior condition:

The body and doors are made of stainless steel. The builder created a custom English wheel to shape the stainless steel. The front and rear trunk lids are made of fiberglass and were originally sourced from a Tiger ERA 30 kit car, which were modified and widened to fit the body. The fitment of all these components is very good. The paint finish is in good condition overall, although there is a small damage near the left front wheel arch. The windshield is sourced from a Saab 99.

  • General condition:

This homebuilt vehicle displays a high level of craftsmanship and has a distinct character. It is evident that a lot of thought and effort went into its design and execution. It gives the impression of being a highly capable car, particularly when it comes to spirited driving.
