Description
Tore took exceptional care of the vehicle throughout its life. A closer inspection reveals that the original protective plastic from the factory delivery still remains on the driver's door trim—66 years later. The interior was always protected by seat covers while the car was in use, and it shows: the original upholstery has been preserved in remarkably fine condition.
According to the entries in the service book, the speedometer was replaced in the autumn of 1983. At that time, the car had covered approximately 120,000 km (12,000 Swedish mil), based on our interpretation of the records. The replacement odometer started from zero, and the current reading is approximately 17,000 km. Allowing for the fact that the odometer resets to zero after 100,000 km, we estimate the car's total mileage to be around 240,000 km. While this figure cannot be guaranteed, we believe it to be accurate.
After Tore passed away, the car was repurchased by the dealership that had originally sold it new to Tores Trio. The dealership was only allowed to buy it back on the condition that it would never be converted into an EPA tractor—a common fate for many Volvo Duetts in Sweden. The current owner, who worked at the dealership, later purchased the car from his employer, also promising that it would remain well cared for.
According to the Swedish Transport Agency, the car has had four registered keepers. However, this requires some clarification. The vehicle was used continuously by Tores Trio from new until 1996. It was then registered to two different car dealers, neither of whom actually used it. The current owner acquired the car in 2009 and has kept it primarily as a collector's vehicle, using it only sparingly.
The luggage compartment contains the car's original documentation, including the owner's manual, service records, and warranty booklet. Also included are a framed photograph of Tores Trio with their beloved Volvo Duett and the LP record they released.
Please note: This is a remote auction. The photographs were taken by an independent photographer, and all information regarding the vehicle and its mechanical condition has been provided by the owner. Bilweb Auctions has therefore not carried out an on-site inspection of the vehicle.

Condition

Mechanical condition
Powered by the classic B16A engine, a 1.6-litre inline four-cylinder producing approximately 60 horsepower. It features the original 6-volt electrical system with a DC generator, paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Both the engine and gearbox perform well, delivering a smooth and enjoyable driving experience.

Interior condition
The interior is in exceptionally good condition considering the car's age and mileage. The dashboard is clean and free from damage, and the rubber floor mats are in good condition. There is minor wear on the lower rear section of the driver's seatback, as well as some wear to the right-hand door armrest.
The headliner is well preserved, with only a few minor moisture stains in the rear cargo area. Please refer to the photographs for further details. The rear load compartment is also unusually well maintained.
The car is fitted with a period-correct Blaupunkt radio, as well as an auxiliary heater—a welcome feature during the harsh northern Swedish winters of the 1960s. -
Exterior condition
The owner has carefully examined the car and concluded that much of the paintwork is original. At some point, the right front fender was replaced and repainted, and the cowl panel between the windshield and the hood was repainted at the same time. When this work was carried out, the fender-mounted rear-view mirror was not reinstalled. A television feature on Tores Trio from 1981 shows the car without the mirror, leading us to conclude that the repair and repainting took place prior to 1981.
There is a scratch in the paint on the left-hand side behind the door, but it is relatively minor. Overall, the paint is in better condition than one would normally expect from a 66-year-old finish. There are some areas with paint touch-ups, light wear, filled stone chips, and a few small rust bubbles. The left front fender shows rust along the edge where it meets the body. Please refer to the photographs for further details.
The chrome trim and bumpers are in good used condition.
The car is equipped with Marchal Amplilux headlights, a distinctive period accessory featuring a dual-reflector design that provided exceptionally effective illumination—comparable to having an additional pair of auxiliary driving lights.
It rides on newly manufactured cross-ply tyres with the correct period appearance. Overall, the exterior presents very well. -
General condition
A well-preserved, unrestored Volvo Duett with just one owner-driver from new until 1996. Since then, it has been used only sparingly by a Volvo collector.

Facts about the model
Their repertoire featured traditional Swedish dance music—including foxtrots, tangos, hambos, schottisches, and other popular styles—often accompanied by lyrics carrying a distinct political message. This earned them recognition within Sweden's progressive music movement and, in 1981, led to the release of their only LP record, Thores Trio, produced in collaboration with Tomas Forssell.
The members openly identified as communists and, on at least one occasion, travelled as far as Murmansk in the then Soviet Union to perform. They were regular performers at Folkets Hus in Båtskärsnäs and frequently appeared alongside the local revue company Baskeriamatörerna. The trio toured extensively throughout Sweden, with recurring performances at venues such as the Folkets Hus halls in Nikkala, Koskullskulle, and Seskarö.
Thores Trio also appeared in the Swedish Television documentary Upp till dans i Båtskärsnäs, broadcast on 7 August 1978. Today, Folkets Hus in Båtskärsnäs houses an exhibition dedicated to the group. In 2010, Thores Trio was honoured at a special tribute event celebrating their best-known songs and recognising their lasting contribution to the musical heritage of Norrbotten.
When Tore Nilsson passed away in 1996, the band came to an end. Nanna and Erik Helin continued performing together for as long as they both lived. In 1998, the Volvo Duett was repurchased by the dealership that had originally sold it new to Thores Trio in 1961. It is now owned by a Volvo collector, who has decided to offer the car for sale at auction in the summer of 2026.
