Mercedes-Benz 280 SE Coupé W111 — 1969

• Mechanical condition

  The engine sounds and feels good once it has warmed up, and last season’s fuel has been diluted with this year’s. The gearbox shifts well, and the brakes engage smoothly. Parts of the exhaust system appear to be new. It has a tow bar with an older electric brake system, and the electric brake function itself works fine. The pedal/lever made of metal is located on the left side near the floor.

• Interior condition

  Beautiful, soft, and vibrant red leather upholstery, which has been covered with a sheepskin cover since the current owner acquired the car. We removed the cover on the driver’s seat for the photos, and the rest of the leather upholstery is equally fresh and nice, if not even better. There is some normal entry wear on the driver’s side. Otherwise, the instrument panel, carpets, headliner, and door panels are also in neat and nice condition. It’s also a nice touch to have the original Blaupunkt radio from that era.

• Exterior condition

  Nice and presentable paint, slightly touched up at the lower right rear fender edge to address early signs of corrosion. The rear fenders have been partially repainted in the seventies after a couple of garage scratches. Newer Hankook tires with good tread on the original steel rims with nice hubcaps. The mirrors on the front fenders are adjustable, and the owners have done some driving with a small vintage caravan from 1966 attached to the car. The so-called “Amerika” headlights must have been installed sometime in the eighties; in a couple of older photos, the car appears to have standard headlights. The spare tire in the luggage compartment is an older diagonal tire, likely the original tire from 1969

• General condition

  Solid overall impression with a nice history, relatively low mileage, and well-maintained condition. The car has been driven every year, albeit only a few miles each year, but that’s what an older car benefits from.

Important to know before placing your bids!

• Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
• When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
• If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
• If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
• Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
• For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
