Description

This 1955 Ford F100 has been given a new life far from the factories of America. Somewhere in the Dalarna region of Sweden, the transformation began — where an old American pickup met Swedish craftsmanship and hot rod culture. The front end is believed to come from the 1954 model year, and beneath the bodywork lies far more modern technology than Ford could offer in the 1950s.

The chassis has been rebuilt using front and rear suspension components from a Jaguar XJ6, complete with disc brakes all around, a limited-slip rear axle, and rack-and-pinion steering, giving the truck entirely different road manners compared to the original. Under the hood sits a powerful Chevrolet 350 engine fitted with classic “Mickey Mouse heads,” paired with a TH400 automatic transmission and a modified torque converter. It is also equipped with a stainless-steel exhaust system that delivers a sharper and more aggressive V8 rumble.

Inside, the pickup has been given a more comfortable character with a tilt-adjustable GM telescopic steering column, power windows, and central locking. The original bench seat has been replaced. The headliner is not installed but is included loose with the vehicle. Also included are additional 16-inch wheels fitted with 245/50 tires.

The chrome and paintwork are not perfect, but that suits the personality of the truck perfectly. This is no museum piece. It is a Swedish-built custom Ford with attitude — created to be seen, heard, and driven.

The interior is in usable condition, showing the typical signs of age and wear that a vehicle like this is expected to have — see photos. The headliner is included loose with the vehicle.

  • Exterior condition

The paintwork is in decent usable condition. There are a number of touch-ups and small dents, see photos. The chrome trim shows some wear. The underside appears acceptable. The driver-side exterior mirror is missing.

  • General condition

A Ford F100 in road-ready, usable condition. The perfect “fun truck” for someone who wants to stand out.

Facts about the model

In 1953, Ford introduced its new generation of half-ton pickups — the first true modernization of the model that had originally debuted in 1948. The truck received a longer hood and the beautifully styled grille that has since become iconic. At the same time, Ford introduced a new and safer cab design with significantly more glass area than before. Up until then, the model had carried the name F1, but it was now renamed F100 — a designation that would continue all the way to modern generations of the model.

Most were sold with an inline-six engine (like the example above), although the F100 could also be ordered with a flathead V8. In 1954, this engine was replaced by the overhead-valve Y-block V8. That same year also marked the first time the F100 became available with an automatic transmission.
