"Stylish and classic, with a slight twist to its appearance."

Description

It was imported to Sweden in 2017, and the current owner purchased the car from the importer in 2018. He has driven the car every summer and serviced it himself. For a buyer who isn’t bothered by uneven panel alignment, this car is a bargain. The most recent approved inspection was carried out on 2017-12-21.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Starts easily, runs smoothly, and the gearbox shifts gently. It feels as it should on the road. The brakes pull straight, and the car feels stable and well-balanced.

  • Interior condition

Appears to have the original interior in very good condition. Good carpets, upholstery, and door panels, with some minor wear on the right-hand side. The steering wheel and controls are in normal condition, and there is a small blemish on the lower right section of the dashboard. Overall, the cabin offers a pleasant and inviting feel.

  • Exterior condition

Presentable and attractive exterior, though the car’s slightly uneven front-end appearance does raise some curiosity. The issue is limited to the bodywork only — the geometry has not been affected. The left front section has been repaired and welded, which explains the appearance. The soft top is intact, clean, and functions well. Nice wheels without damage, fitted with newer budget tires.

  • General condition

Pleasant and presentable overall, and it’s easy to look past the obvious. After all, a 1968 Mustang 289 is still an open-top, well-functioning classic American cruiser from the sixties — even if this pony car sits a little crooked.

Facts about the model

By 1968, the model had matured from its originally successful launch. Externally, it received a subtle facelift with recessed side marker lights to comply with new U.S. regulations, a cleaner grille design without the previous horizontal chrome bars, and more pronounced sculpting ahead of the rear wheels. Inside, a new two-spoke energy-absorbing steering wheel was introduced along with padded interior details for improved crash safety. A total of 25,376 convertible examples were produced that year, making it a rarer sight on the roads compared to the coupe version.
