"This car can be described as in very good condition for its age, with extra praise."

Description

Sold new in Östersund and has had only one user. In 2014, the car was put away and changed hands twice but has not been on the road again until now. The only major work done was the planing of the cylinder head, in addition to regular maintenance and servicing. The car has a new inspection. At the time of the photo, the car has winter tires, but a set of summer tires on rims is also available.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

The car had been standing still for over eight years, and during that time, something happened to the engine. The current owner has fixed the issue, which involved replacing the head gasket and planing the cylinder head. The car now starts and runs smoothly and has no technical issues.

  • Interior condition

The interior is in very good condition, with seats, headliner, and door panels all looking neat and well-maintained overall.

  • Exterior condition

The paint and bumpers have held up well over the years with no significant issues. There are some scratches and minor chips, including one in a headlight lens, but nothing out of the ordinary for the mileage and age - if anything, better than expected. There is a repaired rust blister visible under the driver's door handle. The body has clean and tidy edges and panel gaps.

  • General condition

Well-maintained and well-kept car that has been sparingly used. Only driven around 650 miles per year during the time it was in active traffic.

Facts about the model

In 1986, the new large and modern Saab was introduced with the model designation 9000. The car became an immediate success and there was a waiting list of more than a year for the turbo model. Saab developed the car model in collaboration with Lancia and Fiat. These models were named Lancia Thema and Fiat Croma and are also collector's items today. However, Saab had its own engines, gearbox, interior, as well as front and rear design. Only the basic body was shared among these cars. Saab 9000 had this appearance until 1992 when a more refined version was shown, which was given the additional designation CS and was produced until 1998.

Saab 9000 was a very comfortable and safe car with high quality on all details. The car model was used, among other things, by the police in the US and Sweden and was a workhorse which contributed to the fact that few specimens remain today. However, the car is the most important model in Saab's history and this specimen is worth saving as it is, as a collector's item, for outings and to cherish carefully.
