"Much of the car remains in its original state, providing a delightful sense of the 1950s and 1960s era. Careful maintenance and upgrades have made it a lively and enjoyable companion on the road."

Description

The car was registered for traffic in Sweden in October 1959. The current mileage is 54 710 km, but due to several previous owners and years of ownership, the exact mileage is unknown. The current owner purchased the car a little over two years ago. A previous owner had performed body repairs and repainted the car, during which the windows and other parts were removed. The engine was disassembled and inspected for bearing play and valve clearances, which appeared to be in good condition. The current owner has installed an electronic ignition system, an adjustable jet on the carburetor, and replaced the right front wheel spindle and a couple of tie rod ends. The original steering wheel and wheels are included, although the wheels will require sandblasting and repainting. The car has been inspected for the "last time.

Facts about the model

Fiat's response to other countries' simple economy cars after World War II was the Fiat 600 model. It was manufactured between 1955 and 1969 and was designed by the iconic Dante Giacosa. It was Fiat's first model with a rear-mounted engine, a lively little four-cylinder engine that, unlike the VW Beetle, was water-cooled. The engine had a displacement of 663 cc and produced 21.5-24.5 horsepower from 1955 to 1960. From 1961, a larger 767 cc engine with 29 horsepower was introduced. While not the fastest cars, they got the job done. The Fiat 600 was fairly modern for its time, featuring a monocoque body structure and independent suspension on all four wheels. Initially, it had rear-hinged doors, but from the 1964 model year, the hinges were moved to the front. A wide range of different versions were produced over the years, and the Multipla version, in particular, is immensely popular today, serving as a precursor to modern MPV cars. A total of 2,695,197 Fiat 600 cars were built in various versions.
