Description
The current owner purchased the car in 1988 and has enjoyed it for over 37 years — a true long-term relationship. It has clearly been his pride and joy, used only as a summer car, never driven in the rain, and gently exercised just 100–200 km per year. Even during storage, it has been started regularly and kept in a warm garage, ensuring it always stays in good form.
Over the years, the car has been carefully maintained by a knowledgeable local mechanic familiar with these models. Servicing has been carried out every other year, with oil, filters, and spark plugs replaced as needed, and brake pipes renewed last year — all pointing to thoughtful and consistent care.
The car comes complete with its factory silver hardtop in good condition, and presents beautifully in its elegant silver exterior paired with a rich red leather interior — a classic and uplifting combination that perfectly suits the spirit of the car.
Technical data
Condition
-
Mechanical condition
The car starts immediately and the engine runs smoothly and steadily, with no strange noises. On the test drive it performed very well, feeling tight and composed on the road, with good brakes and an easy-shifting 3-speed automatic gearbox. The electric windows work properly, and the soft top operates easily, lifting and lowering as it should while fitting well.
The engine bay is presentable and well-kept, with the bonnet insulation replaced — a sensible upgrade, as the original material often deteriorates with age. This is a car ready to be enjoyed directly, inspection exempt for life, and sitting on attractive alloy wheels with only a few minor scuffs and good tires. In the boot, the spare wheel and tool kit remain in place, adding to the completeness. -
Interior condition
Red interior trimmed in leather, all in good condition with an even, well-preserved patina. The seats are structurally sound with only minor wear to the piping along the edges (see pictures), with no splits or major damage. Door cards, side panels, and carpets are clean, well-fitted, and free from notable defects. The rear compartment is tidy and has been discreetly fitted with additional speakers.
Chrome trim around the seats and door sills is bright and in good condition, with only light age-related marks. The dashboard is clean and retains its original gauges and instrumentation, all in place and undamaged. The passenger-side vent cover has been previously repaired and glued back into position. The car is fitted with a more modern radio for improved usability, and a wind deflector is installed behind the seats. -
Exterior condition
The car presents very well overall, with straight bodywork and no standout accident damage or major panel issues. As is common with cars of this era, there are some age-related rust blisters to note, visible around the upper edge of the front wings, above the chrome trim on the rear wings, along the inner door shut seams, and on the passenger-side inner wing when opening the door. These appear localized rather than structural concerns. At some stage, the car has also benefited from rust prevention treatment, with protective spray visible on inner panels and cavities.
The underbody is generally clean and honest, though there is corrosion to note at the rear left lower corner near the sill, as well as a small hole at the front corner underneath on the driver’s side. The boot floor and luggage area appear solid (see pictures).
Paintwork presents brightly overall with a good shine, showing well for its age. There is a small scratch near the fuel filler flap, but otherwise it remains attractive and presentable. Chrome work and bumpers are bright and in good condition, completing a car that still has plenty of charm and curb appeal. -
General condition
These cars remain hugely popular with enthusiasts of all ages across Europe, and it’s easy to understand why — they still drive beautifully in modern traffic, feel comfortable on the road, and are remarkably practical classic cars to own and enjoy. This example is ready to be enjoyed this summer, backed by good history and 37 years of devoted ownership. A well-loved classic with charm, usability and lasting appeal.
