Description
This Austin Countryman was originally sold new to a dentist in Luleå and carried the registration number BD28898. The car is in good and unspoiled condition and is now with its fourth owner. All inspection records since the first one in 1971 have been preserved and will be included with the car.
For a period, the car was fitted with a 1275 cc engine, but the original engine was kept and has now been reinstalled. According to the current owner, the car has covered approximately 60,000 km since new, which appears consistent with its overall condition.
The exterior was repainted many years ago, and the paint still presents well. In 2023, the Austin took a long road trip to Italy where it participated in the IMM. Included in the sale are documents such as receipts, inspection records, and a set of four original steel wheels. New front tires have been fitted.
A fine, well-kept estate car that seems to have remained largely untouched. A long-wheelbase Mini that certainly holds its own.

Mechanical condition
Runs well with a sound engine and drivetrain. The braking system works as it should. However, the speedometer and trip meter have stopped working.

Interior condition
Nice and largely unspoiled original interior (except for the floor mats). The area under the spare wheel cover is also in good condition. Even the floor is in better shape than usual for a "Mini".

Nice older paintwork that has stood the test of time well. The chrome trim is in good condition.

Facts about the model
When the Mini was first launched in 1959 by the British Motor Corporation (BMC), it was a revolution. An extremely compact car with front-wheel drive and a transversely mounted engine, it maximized passenger space within a minimal footprint. The Austin Mini Countryman was the estate version of this success story. It was developed to meet the need for more luggage space and was intended for families and those who required more cargo capacity than the standard Mini could offer. The equivalent model from the sister brand Morris was called the Morris Mini Traveller—technically identical to the Austin Countryman.
