"A practical wagon that has served the current owner family for 37 years. It is in very good condition considering its age and mileage, and still has plenty more to give. As with all older wagons, there are some details to look over, but overall it’s simply a case of “turn the key and drive.”"

Description

This wagon was first registered for road use on December 3, 1987. The current owner family acquired the car on December 18, 1989. It has been used as a daily driver but has always been well cared for and serviced as required.

The odometer currently reads 302,520 km, but it stopped working several years ago, and the car has actually covered approximately 400,000 km. No significant repairs have been needed over the years, and it has proven to be a dependable and loyal companion. Equipped with a tow hitch.

Included with the car is a folder containing the original owner’s manual and various documents. The car was inspected on April 23 this year and is ready to drive.

Condition

  • Mechanical condition

Starts easily and runs smoothly. It’s no race car, but during a test drive in a residential area it performed as it should, with good steering (non-power-assisted), a functional clutch and gearbox, and good brakes. It has not been inspected on a lift, but the vital components that could be seen appeared to be in good condition, and there were no remarks during the vehicle inspection.

  • Interior condition

A fine and well-preserved original interior with comfortable front and rear seats. The upholstery is in good condition, as are the door panels, trim, headliner, and carpets. The “big blue sea” in the rear cargo area is in good original condition and ready for luggage and loads.

The steering wheel, controls, gauges, and dashboard are all functioning, apart from the odometer, which has stopped working. The sunroof, manual window winders, seat adjustments, and other manual functions all operate flawlessly. Equipped with an additional oil pressure gauge. Period-correct cassette stereo included.

  • Exterior condition

Nice, what appears to be original paintwork with normal signs of use and maintenance touch-ups. The glass, trim, emblems, and lighting details are in matching condition. The sunroof is in good condition and seals properly. The chrome roof rails are in fine shape. Wheels and tires are in good condition, and both the engine bay and luggage compartment are likewise well kept.

  • General condition

Not long ago, this was a common sight on our roads, but they have now rapidly disappeared. Here it is in fine, well-preserved original condition. Besides the Audi C3 100 being a trendsetter when it was introduced, the Avant version has become an icon that has now entered classic and enthusiast territory, making it a wonderful 1980s collector’s car.

Facts about the model

The Audi 100 was launched in 1967 and produced in four different generations (C1, C2, C3, and C4) until 1994, when it was replaced by the Audi A6.

The C3 model was produced for the 1982–1991 model years and truly lived up to Audi’s slogan, “Vorsprung durch Technik.” It offered either front-wheel drive or quattro all-wheel drive, along with petrol four- and five-cylinder engines producing between 90 and 165 hp, as well as a five-cylinder diesel engine. The C3 model also featured a low drag coefficient (Cd) ranging from 0.2 to 0.33 depending on version. The bodies were galvanized, and from 1986 fully galvanized.

When Swedish magazine Teknikens Värld test drove the new car in the autumn of 1982, they wrote: “The new Audi is a perfectly sculpted beauty with lines that will most likely become trendsetting for cars of the 1980s — a true trendsetter.” Audi 100 was indeed named European Car of the Year in 1983, proving that prediction correct.

Later that same autumn came the next addition: the Audi 100 Avant. Here was an estate car that did not resemble the traditional “boxy wagon” from Volvo, but instead a sleek and elegant design with a gracefully sloping rear end while still offering enormous cargo capacity. This version also became a major success.

During 1988, the model received a mild facelift known as the “88B,” featuring, among other things, a curved dashboard and recessed door handles. The final Audi 100 C3 models were produced in November 1990. In total, around 890,000 examples were built, of which approximately 55,000 were sold in Sweden.
