Description
The entire car was disassembled, and the body was mounted on a frame jig and blasted. The body was then thoroughly inspected. Among other things, all four fenders were replaced with brand new ones. When the bodywork was completed, it was painted by Umeå Billackering. The fenders and vulnerable parts have been treated with rust protection. Rust prevention has been applied continuously throughout the restoration, including inside the beams and other areas. The cost of all chrome work alone exceeded SEK 120,000.
The fully rebuilt engine is not matching numbers but is the correct type for the car. In summary, everything that needed restoration has been addressed, with many parts replaced with brand new ones. The owner describes the restoration journey as the goal itself. He saw it as a challenge to prepare a truly fine Mercedes. After investing five years and sparing no expense, he now feels the project is complete and the goal achieved.
Regarding the mileage: the odometer shows just under 50,000 kilometers, though this cannot be confirmed. Since the restoration, the owner has driven approximately 1,300 kilometers.
The car comes with a tool kit, spare wheel, and jack. Additionally, for those interested, the original rear axle is also available.
Regarding the car’s history: we know that in 1967 the car was owned by engineer KG Sandberg in Sollentuna. The license plate at the time was B16666. Older documentation can be requested via the National Archives (Riksarkivet).
This is a distance auction. Photos and information about the car and its technical status have been provided by the owner. BWA has not inspected the car on-site.
