"Renovation project in need of love."

Description

This Fiat is very rare, even within the extensive Fiat family. They produced very few station wagon models in the 1950s. This model is even rarer because it has the unusual option of two extra child seats in the luggage compartment, which were said to have been ordered by the Fiat dealer at the same time as the car was ordered in the fall of 1953. It had the same owner from new until 1979 when it was taken out of use. Through an inheritance, it ended up with the current owner´s family.

The owner´s original plan was to restore it to good usable condition in 2021, but plans changed due to other priorities. The Fiat has undergone partial rust repair work, primarily in the rear, about 15 years ago. It´s difficult to assess its mechanical condition as the car cannot be driven, but according to the owner, it is possible to turn the engine with a wrench. The Fiat is considered a restoration project and could be a fun and enjoyable winter project. Many parts are included separately, but it´s challenging to determine if all of the car´s parts are among them; please refer to the pictures for details.

Facts about the model

The Fiat 1100 was manufactured between 1953 and 1969.

At the 1953 Geneva Motor Show, the Nuova 1100, also known as the 1100-103, was introduced. It featured a new self-supporting body with front-hinged doors. Its mechanics were based on its predecessor, the Fiat Balilla 1100. Later that year, the more powerful 103 TV model was added, which became popular in rally competitions. In 1954, the station wagon model Familiare was introduced, similar to the one you're referring to.

In 1956, the updated 103E was released with stronger engines and a modified front end. In October 1957, it was succeeded by the 103D with a different engine and a larger luggage compartment. In 1959, the range was complemented by the more luxurious 103H, also known as the 1100 Lusso. Production totaled 742,000 units.
