This VW 1303 S was delivered from VW in Södertälje, January 1973. These cars could be purchased by licensed drivers for participation in the VW Cup which started in 1973 during the oil crisis. It was a standard 1303 S with some additional equipment, and a few characteristics of this model of cup car were vents under the front bumper, two extra lights, and different shock absorbers. But the color was also special for the model, and in Sweden, the color was called "pea green". Reportedly, about 100 cars were imported to Sweden in this configuration. Now, the car has been renovated, and the owner has spared no expense in this regard. The engine is a renovated H 1500 with an alternator matched with a newly renovated gearbox, new clutch, and new discs. It has been welded and quite recently repainted, in 2023, and much of the floor pan is new. The entire brake system is new, and much of the front suspension as well. The bumpers are also new. The car is equipped with new Bilstein shock absorbers, and the right strut is new. Wheel alignment has been done, and a protocol is included. It also has chrome Bosch 180 extra lights. A main switch has been installed. The headliner is in a slightly tattered condition, but a new one is included separately. The seat upholstery is worn, and they are equipped with slipcovers. A nice VW 1303 S in a drivable condition.

Mechanical condition
Easy to start. The engine is a renovated 1500 H and it is connected to a renovated gearbox. Minor oil leak from the engine. The car runs well mechanically. Summer tires with acceptable tread. See also other items addressed under "description".

Interior condition
The headliner is in poor condition, but a new one is included with the car separately. Some damage to the dashboard, see picture. Door panels are in good condition. Nice rubber mats on the floor in good condition. The spare tire is okay. According to the owner, the seat upholstery is worn, hence the slipcovers.

Fine paint, good glass and chrome. New bumpers both front and back. Very nice underneath and also in the spare tire well.

Gives a very good overall impression in body and paint. The engine is easy to start and sounds good. Good overall impression for a car that is in nice usable condition. Ready to drive, stylish, and presentable.

Facts about the model
This is a special model, a so-called cup car that VAG Sweden imported and sold as a one-make class to active rally drivers during the year 1973. About a hundred cup cars were ordered ready by Volkswagen's Swedish importer with the characteristic pea green color. The cars were sold upon presentation of a racing license. The model featured, among other things, air intakes in the front. The co-driver's lamp on the passenger side was also standard on this model, as well as two extra lights at the front. The cars were delivered without rust protection, and few of these remain today given this and the cars' use in racing.

- At this auction, many vehicles have been included in car collections and have been stored (mothballed) for a long time. For this reason, they are described from a collector's perspective and may need technical reviews and maintenance service - oil, battery replacement, new tires, brake review, etc. - before they can be used. .
- During the auction days information about a vehicle may be updated up to the day before the auction ends. When you bid at the end of the auction period - and also if you have made an earlier bid - we therefore ask you to read the descriptions carefully, in case something has been changed due to new information.
Important to know before placing your bids!
- Once you have called in an item and the reservation price is reached we want you to deposit the entire purchase amount into our client funds account before retrieval can take place.
- When you need to retrieve a called in object we want you to examine it carefully. If you consider that the item does not match our description you do not need to complete the purchase. In this case the deposited purchase sum and the entry fee are refunded.
- If you do not examine the item on the spot the call charge will be debited, but you do not have to complete the deal.
- If you make the entire purchase exclusively at a distance you have 14 days to cancel, but must return the item at your own expense.
- Your shipping costs and other costs are not reimbursed when the right of withdrawal is exercised. Swedish court applies.
- For items that have not been collected within 14 days storage costs may be charged.
